I'm new here and I wanna make some cars like the PS13 Silvia. But every attempt I try of it, my poly count is way too high and if I do get it low my fenders don't look as smooth as on the actual car. I'm also having trouble making low poly wheels. I'm using Maya 2016 if that makes any difference.

modeling software doesnt really matter use whatever you feel more confortable with, all of them have different modeling techniques.

As for the polycount, if you are starting to model now, dont care much about it, with the time you will get practice and you'll learn how to use polygons efficiently.

Good to know modeling software doesn't matter. I have tried modeling the S13 multiple times. I don't know how to use the polygons efficiently.

Practice, practice, and even more practice. My first wheel was total crap, another, not made in fifteen minutes, but more - was much better. Now I can say I make decent wheels in not that high polygon count. Less than twenty thousand polies isn't a lot, right?
