So i am collecting those old BMW-s like pokemons, the slogan is gotta catch em all! I wanted an 8 series since i was a kid, i think it is the most beautiful BMW ever made. And now that i can afford one, i bought one.

I was searching for an 840 since i arrived to the USA, but they seemed to be expensive. From time to time there were really good offers, but i could never make it. Sometimes i had no money, sometimes no time, or place. But now my time has come.

I found her on carsforsale.com . It was in Roseville, a good 5 and a half hour drive, so i asked for a day off(my boss was really happy when i told that in the middle of the moving, but he understood the waight of the situation). I took the 530 for the trip.

So about that 840. This was the ad:


It does not reveal much, but it turned out that i am facing a car dealer. But he was correct, told me everything about the car. It is wery well equipped, have almost every options, and sport packet too, with the CSi bumpers and skirts. It had 3 owners, and it did not passed the smog inspection 8 months ago, thats why it is not registered. They could not find out whats the problem with the engine, so 1 week ago they took it to the dealership. The price was 6,999. I did not want to go any lower, but i asked for a deliver in that price. The dealer said yes, so it'll be delivered today late afternoon.



And my impressions: Nice overall condition, the body is in perfect condition, even the paint is defect free, and that gletscherblau metallic is a really nice color. The interior is super clean. I could not test drive it, but i hope it runs well, and the smog failure is just some problem with the O2 sensors. It has some cheap aftermarket rims which i need to replace.

The e39 felt nice as always, i started at 5m to make it to Roseville in the forenoon. At dawn there were no traffic at all, and i pushed a little bit harder, i made the trip a little bit less than 5 hours. At the trip home, i did not take the highway, and just enjoyed the cruise. I stopped for a lunch too. The trip cost me V$ 95.

After the trip i had time to swap the wheels on the E36. I found a set of a 16 inch steelies with bad tyres, i did speedhunters tyre stencils on them.
