3 letter numberplates in the netherlands are "newer" since we ran out of 00-xx-00 and 00-xx-xx
so for example 14-XJ-HG (as my Corolla) has 2007 plates (car from 1999, owner moved from
Belgium to the Netherlands). My Miata 15-HZL-9 has 2009 plates(car from 1995)
