I tried the SLRR by Jack once. It lagged more than my personal install (and my PC should handle SLRR just fine), and it wont let you add certain mods apparently.
Also, Stage 1 is something is indeed filled with community mods. But mostly community mods we know are from good modders, while SLRR by Jack has all sorts of mods.
Me personally, don't and never did use any of those. I've always prefered to start completely clean with the 2.2.1 MWM install we got in the download section
