Hello everyone,

I stumbled upon SLRR yesterday, whilst on YouTube and fell in love with the game. Sure, it's a bit rough round the edges, but what great fun!

I have tried two different versions of the game, both with their "quirks" but I'm yet to find a version that runs well (various crashes yesterday) and ticks all the boxes.

What is the best version of the game, that runs smoothly and takes all the latest mods and what have you? (It will need to run in 1920x1080, as well...)

I would like to add new engine sounds (Best sounds mod?) some cars, Simcade mod and the ENB lighting mod (Is the ENB mod hard to install?) as well.

System Specs:
i5 3330
8GB RAM
Radeon 7850 1GB GFX
Windows 7 64Bit (Should the game be run in compatibility mode?)

Many, many thanks ;)

First of all hi and welcome to VStanced.com, i suggest you to give a look HERE for slrr noob guide(it explain step by step everything you need to get started) and HERE to know all rules and be sure to be able to use the site properly.

Now, i personally use SLRR 2.2.1 MWM Stage1 by Diegorborges, it is a custom version of MWM that includes some mods though some people prefer clean 2.2.1 MWM instead, i think they both are equally good.

So what i suggest is to rely on one of them(basically you simply have to choose between premodded-Stage1 or base game-MWM).

About ENBs, i hate them, i think some good ENVmaps(car reflection), skydome textures and forced AA from your gpu setup(in your case AMD CCC/VECC) are the key to get good pictures and enjoy the game.

The only way to use all mods in a game is install the mode LE2MWM, but it is more like a cancer for the game(it will only make your game crash more often), so the only way to have a fully working game is download mods from known modders as me, Jesus Christ/Grudas, Franco, Jaziba, JoeAlex, Mario, etc., you can find those mods in our DOWNLOAD SECTION simply by ordering by name in the download list relative to what you are looking for(like cars, exhaust and others, etc.).

Also everytime you install or uninstall a mod would be correct delete your profile and create a new one since the game scans all mods when you create your profile and if it doesnt find it when playing(this mainly if you want to use Valo City map) will just crash.

I hope this is enough explanatory, anyway if you need further information just let me/us know. :)

Wow, BB93 replying to my first post! Happy days! (Thanks to FJ for assistance, as well)

I have found a version of the game (after posting on here) that I'm going to run (Could be the same as the one you suggested, BB?)

Correct version of the game?

Would this version be ok?

"About ENBs, i hate them, i think some good ENVmaps(car reflection), skydome textures and forced AA from your gpu setup(in your case AMD CCC/VECC) are the key to get good pictures and enjoy the game."

What would be the best way of going about setting up the game, to look as good as possible, using the already modded version that I will be going with? (And how do I "force" AA on in the CCC?)

And will SLRR 2.2.1 MWM Stage1 run in 1920x1080? And will it allow me to add custom sounds? (How do you do this? - and which ones are best?) And can I run the Simcade mod?

Sorry for all the questions, and many thanks in advance ;)

EDIT: I've just tried the version of the game that I posted in this reply, and I'm getting an awful framerate. Any reason as to why? Thanks ;)

lol i'm that special? xD

yeah that's the one

Enter option menu in graphics section and set color depth to 32(if it is already 32 leave it like that), texture detail to 1024 ptx, longest view distance, max object detail, max lod detail and max shadow detail(leave everything else as it is or you risk it to lag badly/ have a low framerate)

About CCC, open it, go to "Games", then add a custom application setup, select slrr exe and set up everything to the max possible, though since you said it is lagging already probably you have system setup maxed out so i assume you should use a mid AA(12x) and no tassellation. Anyway i'll post my screen later so you can see how it is).

And will SLRR 2.2.1 MWM Stage1 run in 1920x1080? And will it allow me to add custom sounds? (How do you do this? - and which ones are best?) And can I run the Simcade mod?
Yes you can set 1920x1080 from MWM_Resolution_Changer.exe(it is on game root).

Yes you can add custom sounds, i use Diego's engine sounds(stock in stage1) plus my CORSA OPC/VXR SOUNDS and THIS old pack i made as generic sounds(ambient + menus).

I dont think i know what simcade mod is. :S

EDIT: I've just tried the version of the game that I posted in this reply, and I'm getting an awful framerate. Any reason as to why? Thanks ;)

Idk, every slrr takes the same amount of cpu/gpu/ram so i guess is something about your pc.

Right, I've had a little tinker around and set up the game as told by BB93 (Thanks)

I've also managed to sort out my FPS problems by installing Razer Game Booster

Game Booster

And by also installing Radeon Pro:

Radeon Pro

and then setting the game to 30 FPS max.

Here's my settings for the game:

Hope this helps someone :)

Ugggh.. you are using way too much craps togheter.. xD

IMHO you should uninstall both game booster and radeon pro, they will surely slow it instead of "boost".

Here's my VECC/CCC profile for slrr

It is in italian but i dont think it'll be so hard to understand. :P

Thanks again, BB. The game's running great, now.

Is it possible to only have created cars in the game, rather than the "no-name" ones that it was made with? And if it's not, how do you add modded cars to the garages? Cheers :)

Sorry, I know how to add new cars, but how do you get them to show in the used car dealership? In the 2.3.0 version I was using, they would show up.......Also, how do you remove the Duben cars etc, and put modded ones in instead? Many thanks :)

Are you putting the cars in the right folder?(slrr/cars/racers) if you have it might be because you have started a new game so you would have to buy one of the stock slrr cars and they should start to appear, if that didn't work there is always the car shop in the shop menu *top* but they will cost a bit..
the duhen and einwagen cant be removed if i'm correct (don't kill me if i'm not) but there is a script to make them not show up as much in the dealers i think so it's worth checking that out.

Thanks for the help, Henri. It's a shame that the stock cars can't be removed. They look so poor compared to some of the real cars (Good work BB93 etc!)

One other question - what does "IP Fine" with a red number next to it in Financial Information (When buying a 2nd hand car) mean?

Thanks :)

no problem :)
no idea what that is so you will have to get marco (biggboss) to answer that :P
and if you look around there are a quiet few mods that upgrade the stock cars (not the most stable mods) and make them look better and add new parts ect. ect.

Thanks, BB. Does anyone have problems with slow loading cars and building in Vaio City? I hit a car at the traffic lights earlier, as it just appeared in front of me! A few Suzuki Lianas have only been part-built, as well! (Great looking mod, though......) Cheers ;)

Added 23 hours 30 minutes later:

Er, is there any way of getting more cars to show up in the dealerships in "SLRR 2011 STAGE1"? Getting a bit fed up of only a few choices.......

Most cars when you open the folder up you will see the folders Meshes, Scripts, Textures (May Be More), anyway go to Scripts, Then SRC (If there is no folder named src you can't edit it) look for a file named CAR_VT.java, scroll to the bottom and make the prevalence higher.

P.S SRC stands for source files.

P.P.S if there is a double slash like this // then it means to skip that line. If it's there remove it.

EDIT: SRY for late rply

# Henri : f_tires scripts are not good

Could it be that they're part of the '77 Toyota Corolla package that I downloaded and its currently the car I'm using?

@BluExplosions: Many thanks for your help, mate. I'll have a look around and see what I can find :)
