IT CONTINUES!

YES! It's true! I'm back!

Some of you were probably wondering why my old thread suddenly vanished again.. Well.. Stuff changed a lot yet again.

We kinda disbanded as Garage Contraband and everyone did their own thing the last few months. But that didn't mean it's the end of our garage!!

I actually took over our old workshop and rebuilt it into my own!

To pay for the whole building and renovation I sadly had to sell all my previous projects..
But don't worry - we might still see them here and there!

One thing that's actually pretty crazy is that I'm about to make this whole thing my actual job. I'm actually working at the Upgarage that I was previously working at before Garage Contraband but just to make some extra money before reopening the garage officially.

With all that covered and done I still had 20.000V$ over - It was obvious that I had to get a new project.
Especially because of the "new" garage.

And when I started looking around I found this..

This really clean looking '85 Mazda Savanna RX-7 GT (FC3S)

This was the perfect starting point for me. This really slightly tuned FC just struck directly into my eyes.
Especially for that price! 890.000¥ (about 8.000V$) !!

In my opinion this thing is already looking pretty nice. It came with that really cool oldschool Border Racing front bumper and a set of 16 inch Enkei RPF1 with some pretty run down Continentals on them. The engine is pretty much the stock RE but with some supporting mods like a bigger intercooler and radiator, a big HKS air filter and so on. So nothing show-off worthy lol.

Suspension is pretty much stock aswell.

Only other cool thing is the old Bride seat and Nardi steering wheel it came with.

I think thats about it. I'm currently just doing a full service on it and checking all the nuts and bolts to make sure it's good to go to get it's shaken.

Well.. See ya soon!

That's a great find! I really like the bumper, aftermarket ones usually expose the popups and i really don't like that cause it kinda misses the whole purpose. Enkeis look good there too, it just needs some low to make them fit perfectly! Also mismatched seats always look a bit off for me but i guess you don't really need another one. :P

~ Everything starts right here. Right Now. ~

Let the fun begin.

Wassup? Already has been 2 weeks since the last update but I was busy with boring paperwork because of the shop and various other things..

There are some really great things I have to talk about tho - I got my FC fixed up and registered!

Story time:

Since it would be illegal to drive the FC on the roads (duh), I had to call some of my old friends at Upgarage to ask if someone had the time and the right equipment to get my car towed to the traffic office. Turned out that one of my old colleagues actually had to get one of his projects (that we might see on here sooner or later) registered aswell and that he could get us a two car trailer. That's what we ended up with.

It wasn't easy to get the FC registered since the people at the traffic office gave me a hard time when the car went through it's shaken checkup. Apparently it leaked a bit of oil and the rear shocks were trashed. So before I could do anything I got some papers saying I have to fix it up a bit more. Looked under it myself and yes. The engine leaked motor oil. The shocks leaked hydraulic oil. Huh.

So the fixing (and customizing) began.

Part 1: Suspension

We towed the FC right back to the shop and instantly put it onto the lift, started inspecting the suspension a bit further and came to the conclusion that I should just buy a whole new set of coilovers. So I got myself a brand new set of Tein Super Street coilovers for around 1.300V$. The car instantly felt way better and gave me the possibility to make it lower (or in my case - basically slamming it to the ground).

That same colleague that was helping me towing my car also asked me if we wanted to maybe trade our wheels and see if we like the change. I instantly said yes as soon as he said that he had some R33 wheels laying around with some pretty nice Advans on them.

Part 2: Engine

I was really worried that the typical rotary issues already hit me in the first two weeks of owning it. Thankfully it wasn't anything to big of an issue. The last oil change was long overdue and I already had planned to do one anyways (since this is one of the things that you definitley should do when buying a used car). So - I went to the local Autobacs - got everything I needed for a small service - went to the garage and then - service time. Gave the engine and bay a good clean so everything looked as good as it could.

Second try~

Yet again - got my buddy with the trailer, went to get the shaken, and...

THEY SAID YES! ... uhh. yeah. The FC is registered and ready to go! What a relief!

The first official drive felt so incredibly good. Finally hearing that thing BRAP proudly down the streets of Tokyo was so cool! Took it down to a small meet, met some friends and had a good time to release myself from all that stress that paperwork is giving me.

Soo.. I guess..

????????????????????????????

... whoops ;^)

"OH NO NOT AGAIN!!"

weeelllllll....

EYOO. I'm back! Before I talk about anything that happened I have to thank you all for the nice comments about the FC! <3
And to answer Biggies question - I actually don't know myself what I'm going to do with the FC. It's probably just going to stay a normal street car.

Let's begin with the actual update:

If you know me and followed my old threads, you might remember that I have a special connection to a specific type of chassis. One that's seen as "overused" by a lot of other people. Ehm.. yea..

Might have bought another S13 lol. Whoops.

To be exact - It's a '98 Nissan 180sx Type S!

This thing would've costed 759.000¥ (about 6.000V$) but I actually managed to get down the price a bit by buying it with cheaper wheels.
It was supposed to be sold with some Gram Light 57C replicas but since I'm against reps and want to swap this thing to 5-lug anyways it made more sense to play around with the price a bit. They gave me some old used Teardrops from a S13 Silvia on some completely used up tires instead.

The whole price was dropped down to 5.500V$.

And there it is. And just like the FC, the S13 is basically untouched. Only "interesting" mods on it are that knock-off Kakimoto exhaust tip, a HKS pod filter and some no name intercooler which does actually do it's job. Other than that - stock. Really rare sight even in Japan. Hehe.

Even the interior looks clean and well maintained. None of my previous S-Chassis have been that clean. Pretty proud of this one.

Even tho I might not have a strict plan on the FC, it's pretty clear where the S13 is going. Don't worry. This is not going to be some sIcK dRiFt mIsSlE BRUHHH. I will definitley try to keep this thing as clean as possible!

Speaking of S-Chassis and old projects...

Let me introduce you to one of my very first customers. He had the chance to work with me since a few months even tho the shop isn't even open yet.
And you might recognize his car from somewhere..

Doesn't ring a bell? Let me help you..

Yep. This is THE very same S14. MY very first S14. My first car that I ever owned in Japan. And it transformed MASSIVELY! He did not only change the color and livery (with my help) but he also changed one major thing in the aesthetic appartment:

HE CHANGED THE ZENKI FRONT. I'm normally against changing Zenkis to Koukis but there was a reason: In his very first track day with the S14 he actually managed to damage the front so much that he had to change most of the panels.. yeah.

This project was so much fun and we will definitley see more of this S14 and more similar stuff like this.

I really hope you enjoyed this update! x

Getting ready for the season!

Let's get to work!!

Yet again - Thank ya'll for the nice comments! I'm really enjoying the S13 so far and it was a really good decision in my eyes! ;)

I'm still coping with the paperwork for the garage (yes the opening has been delayed yet again) so I had to distract myself with something fun and relaxing - like modifiying my S13 (because that definitley cant get extremely painful or anything as everyone knows lol).

Since my bank account is crying itself to sleep at the moment I didn't have that much to play around with but I still think I managed something good here.

First mod - Clear indicators.

Not much to talk about here lol. But still a small detail that can catch eyes quick. These were made by D-Max and cost about 5,726¥ which is about 50V$.
If you want to check them out you can get them here!

Second mod - Sleepy Eyes!

Probably the most common mod on every japanese car with pop-ups. Really easy to achieve on the S13.

Pull out the switch for the pop-up lights, cut the brown wire. Done.
This makes you able to pause the actual "popping-up" of the lights so they actually look sleepy. Easy Peasy.

Third mod - Ito style front bumper.

This one required a bit more work (and some money). For this I needed some Nismo N1 style vents which were not easy to find.
But I ended up with these Australian made ones from JSAI Aero for 110V$. I also had to get some paint and putty.

I got some paint-matched spray cans made at my nearest paint & body shop aswell as the body putty and some sanding tools.
Everything costed me about 300V$.

With everything ready to go I started by removing the stock front bumper from the car.
Doing that actually revealed something about the car that I didnt knew yet - it has a rad made by Koyorad! OH YES!

The whole removing process is pretty easy on s-chassis so it doesn't take that long.
Some bolts on top, on the side, on the bottom, remove the plugs from the blinkers and you're done.

With the bumper removed I could start messuring and cutting the holes into the bumper to place in the vents. I also cut out a part of the license plate "block" for the full BREAK ITO effect. When I had the vents in place I first glued them on with some epoxy body glue and blended it a bit with bondo. After that I sanded everything down and started to paint (primer, paint, clearcoat). Wet-sanded the clearcoat to make it shiny.

I also ended up removing the grille with the additional turn signals so if anyone wants to have them - first one that turns up gets them for 100V$.

So After everything dried up and looked good I started to install the freshly modified bumper - BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!

Of course I couldn't just install the bumper without a proper looking lip! I ordered a GT-1 Motor Sports FRP front lip for about 142V$!
If you want one for yourself here's the link.

This thing is starting to look really s p i c y. Everything turned out really great! Pretty proud of this not gonna lie..

But since we are at the topic of sanding and painting..

Fourth mod - painted a-pillar covers

Yup. I took the remaining paint to get the a-pillars looking fresh since they where kinda starting to look faded and really scratched up. That's about it. Taped the windows off, started sanding, primer, paint, clearcoat, wet-sand, done.

Last but not least - Type X rear valances

Nothing special about this - except that I found them used in the same color as the car for about 250V$.

And you might've noticed the plate on the last pic - I also got the S13 registered! So it was finally time to get this thing out of the workshop and out on the streets!

Decided to drive down to Odaiba and get a good shot of the car on it's first day on the street in my ownership.

I still have so many things planned for this thing but its pretty nice to enjoy a S13 in a semi stock shape for once. It's also such an amazing feeling to have a openable roof on a nice warm almost-summer day like today has been! Just open up all the windows and enjoy the weather.. <3

Anyways, that's it for now! Hope you enjoyed x !!

FINALLY !!

Oh yeah baby!

Wassup! Been some time since the last update. But A LOT of stuff happened in the meantime!

For example - The S13 is finally sitting (almost) on the ground and on new wheels! Took a lot of time and definitley a bit of money but it was SOO WORTH IT. I couldn't stand the stockies that were still on it tbh. But this whole process wasn't the easiest. Because as I told you guys before, I actually wanted to do a 5 lug swap first.

I could've either gone with an aftermarket hub swap set or with S14/S15 suspension parts which is the route I've gone for. I have basically bought myself some used S14 front and rear knuckles with new hubs already on them (600V$). The cool thing is that most of it is actually just "plug and play" and fits almost directly onto the S13 drivetrain with some slight modifications. For the brake discs I did something that I normally wouldn't recommend doing but since I want to upgrade the brakes pretty soon anyways, I thought getting the discs redrilled to 5 lug would work for now. Eh.

I sadly didnt take one single pic of the whole process.. But the finished product speaks for itself:

I'm so incredibly happy with how it looks now! And obviously it wasn't just a 5 lug swap alone that I did to it as you can clearly see. The car now sits on a used set of HKS Yashio Factory coilovers with S.w.i.f.t. springs (750V$) and some 17" (front) and 18" (back) SSR Agle Minervas (1.500V$) to finish the look. Even though I still have to dial in the fitment and get the car a proper allignment its already looking incredibly good and it rides so well.

BUT WAIT - THERES MORE!

Since the car has its "official" rebuilt suspension, it also had to get a small rework on the rest of the aesthetics. I did what I always have to do on my drift cars - add some nice visuals! Its mostly just decals and a flag that I quickly design which I might remake tho since im not 100% on the design rn. I dont know maybe it will grow on me lol.

But these good news still wont stop - and the next one is even bigger.

THE SHOP IS FINALLY OPEN!!

OHH YES MY DUDES! Its finally time to open up the garage doors every day and welcome the customers! I'm doing everything from small services to complete rebuilds (atleast thats the plan lol). Might aswell start a decal/vinyl service since I bought myself a plotter and a proper printer to make die-cuts and stickers. But remember that I'm working alone so I won't be able to do a lot of cars at the same time. Just hit me up and we can work on a deal!

Well technically I'm not open on the weekends - just like this one lol. Especially on this one because I went to a small track day on Nikko circuit today which I might go to tomorrow aswell! It was pretty spontanous so sorry if you wanted to join lol.

But now I'm done. Like I said - If you want to come by to get something done or just to visit feel free to hit me up!

Anyways - Seeya x

First off, obligatory welcome back mashup! :D

It's indeed a good thing parts from S13-15 is basically swappable and plug and play, it's quite a game changer when done porperly :D
And congratulations for the shop's official opening as well as the demo car (heheh ;) )being completed! The S13 now screams proper 90s vibes.
I hope I and some boys in the community here could visit your shop someday ;)
