Hello, welcome to my thread, the place where all of my interesting or down right whacky builds will be posted.

(I haven't posted much since the original singular RP forum, so I'm hoping to rekindle something in making a non V$ rp thread, so consider all the money null)

I'm going to start by showing off my recently acquired 1973 Chevrolet El Camino. It has an interesting life/build already, so I'm looking forward to messing with it.

Like stated above, this is my 73 El Camino. Although not as popular as the earlier models, this american ute still leaves a lot to be enjoyed. It is still the car world's mullet, both in appearance and stature. This particular car has clearly seen some better days. In 1996 the original 4.1L I6 went kaboom. In 1998 the car's engine swap was completed, a Ford 5.8 from a 1995 F150 was put in, as well as a ford 8.8 rear diff and other retro fitted drivetrain components. It's fitted with a powerglide 2 speed, which has both made the car an incredible cruiser but also a terrible slouch with only 200 some wheel horsepower. In 2004 the car was in a minor collision damaging the driver's side front, then repaired using pieces from a two tone car but never repainted. The tailgate was replaced at an unknown time and the bed cover has clearly come from that same parts car. Other than the strange engine swap, replacement panels, and period correct wheels and tires (also known as dry rotted) the car is fairly stock.

So where do I go? I have some money and a fairly blank canvas, so I'd like some opinions on how I should build it since I've got too many different ideas.

The options;

Sell it - The car has been in my possession for just over a month, but I have no real ties to it. I am a resident of Valo City and have plenty of options at my finger tips, maybe this isn't the right one.

Build it - This can be broken down into a few categories/styles
- Slam it/show car (Dump it on it's nuts with some cool wheels, take care of the mismatch etc.)
- Donk it (Would be a fun challenge to tackle, though I'd most likely sell it shortly after)
- Restore/Former Glory (Bring the car back to factory and sell it for a profit)
- Make some power (Either slap bolt ons at this 5.8 or swap it for something more modern/in the GM family)
- Full race car (This will take the longest and hurt any other potential builds the most, but I could go dumb fast)

So what do you think of the car? What should I do? Let me know so I have an idea of where to go from here!

Never thought you'd come back man! It's good to see you.

That's a great find, looks a bit shabby for now but it has potential for a nice project! You could go for a restomod build and make it fast, you can keep the Ford engine to be a little more special. :)

Good to be back, thought about coming back for a couple years but I've been playing consistently so may as well have some fun

Thank you, I'm really looking forward to having something that stands out in Valo, hopefully break a few necks and eventually the tires loose ;) ;)

Goodluck on the build!

Thank you, I definitely want to clean it up, I've already started that in the time since I've got it. Not sure if I can really will myself to go full restoration, I will definitely build this Ford 5.8 until it blows up.

So, with all that being said

here are some pictures of the car as it sits today

When I purchased the car I knew that I wanted it to sit lower and feel less like a boat. I've had these wheels sitting around for a while now and decided to get some new tires mounted, though the offsets are a little poor for this application. I've also lowered the front 2 inches with lowering springs, though the rear 2 inch springs make these wheels rub too badly, so I've since opted to leave it raked for now (pics soon). I also took it for a cruise down to the hardware store and made a fairly simple wood bed to eliminate some of the recently developing rust in the bed.

I think the truck looks a hell of a lot meaner now, but I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to do about this engine.
I'd like to keep the 5.8, but the 2 speed needs to be swapped asap and in terms of power I'm not sure whether to ebay turbo it or just go full bolt on NA for now. I'd like to make at least another 100 wheel horsepower, but I think with more fuel, spark, exhaust flow and air flow that I can make close to that. I may as well throw a big cam at it as well. Let me know your opinions, plenty in store for this thing.

I remember that mod LOL, thank you for the kind words as well.

Since I'm waiting on El Camino parts...

I've decided to show you my current daily. I have some pictures of when I first got it, a little backstory, and then how it looks at this moment. I know you guys like JDM stuff so this might be up your ally.

Here is my 1999 Lexus GS300/Toyota Aristo thing

Originally an imported Aristo, it somehow found itself as a rolling shell. One of the previous owners decided to take a running GS300 and swap everything over into this, thus creating a RHD GS300 with Aristo interior. It is equipped with a well worn 2JZGE and auto gearbox, as well the previous owner had decided that 20" TIS wheels would be the best suit for this ghetto car. I had other ideas in mind.

Presenting my "special stance"

Gone are the 20" wheels, in their place are now 16" wheels and ebay coilovers for the maximum lows.

I have a full set of 16" works, but the rears are both being rebuilt at the moment. In place are a couple of style 5s on adapters so I can still get around dumb low. It's slow, drives terribly, and now scrapes literally everywhere I go. Thankful the roads of Valo are virtually bumpless ;) ;)

I'm looking to build this when the Camino is done, however I am completely open for a straight trade on another running and driving car from the forums. The engine is a bonestock used as 2JZGE with 93k KMS on it, body has 54k KMS, and has only been this low for a few weeks. Show me or PM me what you got for STRAIGHT TRADE, car is valued at 4k or 3.2k without the 4 work wheels.

If it doesn't trade I will eventually do 1J or 2UZ swap, or even just a 2J GTE if possible.

I really like it as well, best daily I've had so far, as this big dumb 2 speed ute isn't a good daily :)) :)) :))

Camino Updates

Today was a good day. I ended up finding a local part out of an El Camino, though it was mostly picked over already the guy pulled me aside and said "here's a couple things I have tucked". He ended up showing me a nice stock pile of rare parts that he most likely won't part with, but also some other good condition parts he's collected over the years. He ended up having a clean driver's side fender, as well as this cowl hood that I don't know much about. He offered to trade the hood and fender for mine with V$100 on top for the hood. I took the offer and we traded parts right there in his backyard.

Once I arrived home that afternoon, the delivery driver stopped by and dropped off a package I've been waiting for since a week after I got the car.

In the boxes were my custom rebuilt 16" Panasport G7s. I had them rebuilt to be the perfect offset for the Camino after the adapters. Immediately I got them wrapped in some cheap low pro tires so I could roll around, as well I threw in the 2" rear springs and it's sitting dumb low. I'm liking this fitment but thinking I should get some tires with more meat on them. Can't wait for all the 5.8 parts to come in :-X :-X :-X

# snn475san : i love the camino

Thank you! I'm loving it too.

Went to pick up my rear set of Works for the Aristo, then slammed it some more and did a home alignment. It's definitely dumb ignorant, it's like that meme of the S2K scraping on a leaf.

The rear fender to lip fitment is actually ridiculous, thank the stance gods for camber arms :)) :))

I'm still interested in trading this car, I may be looking at a potential trade tomorrow. I love the car and see so much potential, so if the car I go to see tomorrow isn't exactly what I want, I think I might just build this car instead.

So I went to look at a few cars for trade this weekend...

I went to go look at both a 240SX and Audi A4. Unfortunately the 240 was too clapped to trade as a daily driver, and the Audi owner wanted too much cash on top, though understandably as it was a much nicer car than my Aristo.

Ever thought you made a dumb decision? I made a bigger one...

In comes a last option. At this point I was dead set on saving for a swap in the GS, but my friend told me about a car that was too good to pass up. I humoured him and went to go take a look. What I saw made me both very nervous, and also excited. I talked with the owner for a good while before striking up a deal. It cost me a bit more than a straight trade, but I've been telling myself since Saturday that it is well worth it.

My 1995 Mazda RX-7, a RHD imported FD that has seen better days, and much worse days. It started life as a factory Montego Blue Auto car, then later in it's life was converted into a show car and then stolen. After it was recovered, most of the car was missing. The car sat for 5 years before another owner bought it, this one with the dedication to put it back on the road. He spent 3 years restoring the car to near factory, though the repaint was fairly far off and it had a mismatch of early and late model parts. 2 more years on the roads of Japan and the car was unfortunately in an accident, causing the car to be damaged out and sent to the auctions with rear passenger side quarter panel and front end damage. It's about 4 months after this time that the previous Valo City owner found the car at the auctions. He had been in Japan for nearly a year and wanted a project he couldn't get his hands on at home. He had always loved the FD but the LHD prices were a bit out of his reach, so this written off RX7 was the perfect project car candidate for him. He ultimately made the highest bid and won the car for dirt cheap and began his quest to build the perfect FD. He spent the time he could on this car until he met his wife, then had his first child. The chassis was repaired and reinforced, the damaged 13B pulled and another engine began to take the place of it.

Cue the engine reveal...

(ignore the battery, my game kept crashing and I got lazy/didn't notice till now :)) )

An RB25 with RB26 Valve covers and a stock 5 speed. The engine is from an R33 GTST and is running a factory ecu with only a few bolt ons. It definitely needs a good refresh and a better tune but this engine has plenty of promise, much more than some silly rotary dorito. And the car has sat mostly untouched since the previous owner's first child was born, the car was still started a few times each month since the swap has been done, and the car is actually driveable though running mostly factory FD or R33 parts. I guess I have a soft spot for giant automotive messes, but the idea of torque in a timeless looking car excites me.

It was imported from Japan about 4 years ago and he included a decent amount of parts with the car, though some are tacky and it's still missing a good amount of the little things. My friend and I hustled all Saturday night to get this thing running a bit healthier, and spent the good part of sunday throwing on everything the car came with. For now, this is how it looks.

Clearly it needs a lot of love, but considering the backstory behind this car and the obviously big potential I've decided to trade my luxury beater for something even stupider than my ford swapped El Camino. All the parts for the 5.8 should be in by tuesday which means I can get to work throwing bolt ons at it, but for the FD I have no idea what I'm going to do. It's clearly a mess but at least I can Uber to work until I get a trunk and the missing taillight :)) :)) :))

Anyone have FD parts or know of a part out? Please let me know! lol

It's been a week and I've made some progress on my RB25 RX7!

I got lucky not long after my last post and ended up finding a front end collision FD not too far away. I hopped in the truck and headed about an hour away to obtain a hatch. I left with a rear carbon hatch with low mount wing and oem rear bumper! The car was visually not far from "fit for road use" whatever that means, but I needed to find a hood. I got to searching and found this replica hood of some kind. Unfortunately it already had a pair of hoodpins and my hood latch is somewhere in a box of random bits and pieces, so this would have to do. I also got to trying to install the oem headlights, but had to go dig for the complete assembly.

I decided that while the El Camino was still running I'd utilize a bit more time to make the FD look somewhat respectable. I began to vinyl wrap the car in a nice blue/purple as taking panels off has been fresh in my mind recently anyway. I got as far as the bumpers and had to take the car for a drive again, this thing has been so fun. Of course in the 30 minutes I was inside the grocery store someone managed so knock my left hand mirror clean off, so for now I've got one. I finally finished the whole car and it definitely has started to take shape, though I'm not a big fan of the low mount, I just have nothing else/can't repair the carbon that's been drilled through. I also decided to pick up some of those led underglow lights to tie in with the rice mods lol.

For now that's how the car's been sitting, though I can give you a little preview of how the wheels I got last night look on the car.

Not really sure what I'm doing with this car, I've just been having fun. It likes to get sideways but I could definitely transform this thing into a quick track car... Plenty of stuff to come over time with this thing, but if anyone wants to rip some sections in Valo let me know :)) :)) :))

Where do you find cars like this for sale?! :)) I used to have a RX7 too, if i had it for a longer time i may have even done a swap like that! Those mods don't even look so ricey with the wrap so neons were not necessary lol. Keep the new wheels on though, they look great! And it will be a good track car for sure, just give it a proper inspection first. Looking at the condition you bought it in there's probably some things to fix.
