Hi everyone !

I just found this forum when i was looking at some 3d car models, and i found some awesome pics on the SLRR "Show of your virtually stance rides".
I was impressed by the quality of the cars.

Right now, i am working on a multiplatform Racing Game powered by Unity3d Engine. (A Game Engine).

I have studied car physics for more than one year now, and after a lot of researches, trial and error, i finally found a good balance for my racing simulation.

Of course, its just the beginning, but i guess that its a good start.
The gameplay, graphics and everything else will improve with new builds and new updates.

Here is a link to the current version (PC AND MAC Compatible):

======================================================================================

REDLINE RACING Build 07

http://www.redline-e.com

======================================================================================

GAMEPAD CONTROLS

X = Accelerate.
□ = Brake.
○ = Handbrake.
L2 = Change camera views.
R1/R2 = Shift down/up gears.

KEYBOARD CONTROLS

Arrows = accelerate/turn/brake.
A/S = shift down/shift up gears.
C = change camera views.
SPACE = Handbrake.

======================================================================================

I hope you can give me good feedback to improve the gameplay.
Feel free to ask me anything.

New cars will be added in the next Build.

Thank you very much !
Best Regards.

Thank you for trying the demo !

That is right.
Wheels are not supported at the moment.
But it will be added on a future build probably.

For the moment supported devices are Gamepad and Keyboard.

from the videos it looks good but at the same time it looks like the ferrari is pivoting by the center?

imagine it having a pole going through the roof and into ground and when you turn the car will turn around that pole which makes it look a bit odd.. i haven't played it yet it might be just videos

you mean like a slot car?
..ive not seen the vids yet, so i cant give my opinion..

Added 4 hours 27 minutes later:

well, after seeing videos, i can say that actually what JC have said is correct, the car looks pivot'ed in the center and when steer looks like a slot car(the wheel orientation does not match to the steering angle) and another weird thing is that all times you stop the car, the rear wheels keep turning for a little time.. i hope you'll be able to fix this two things, because this seems to be a nice project :)

It is not pivoting by the center.
There is absolutely no driving aids or stuff like that, and all the tire model is Pacejka 96 formula.

Please try the demo if you have the time, and tell me if you feel anything wrong.

Thank you for testing the game !
I have a Playstation type controller so i don't know what's happen with the Xbox 360 one.
Can give me a little bit more details about the issue you have ?

how much the wheels turn to the right ?

Again, just by seeing a video is hard to say anything. Also, the video was made with the first build.
The demo is build number 2 and may have some issue fixed already.

My simulation still need some work at low speed.
Low speed car simulation are very tricky to solve.
That may explain why the wheels orientation does not match the steering angle.

But of course, at high speed, this is just normal.
The tires have a maximum grip and in that case the wheels will go in a different direction whatever the steering angle you use.

The build number 3 should be ready for the 20 of this month !

I hope i can do it in time, because i am very busy at work for the moment...

Not much, about 5-10 degreeses i guess, but its still enough to turn the car in straight lines.

Yeah i just realized that the wheels needed more grip.
Next build for the 20 of this month with more cars !

Not much, about 5-10 degreeses i guess, but its still enough to turn the car in straight lines.
I see, i will try to investigate to see what's happen.
Thank you for your report.

Also, as i discovered this forum because of the car mods for SLRR, it would be cool if in the future talented moders could add cars to my simulation.
I have to look for a solution about that.

Maybe, in a future build...

Added 1 day later:

Some new shaders i am working on.
Glass Shader and Car Paint Shader.

Also, a new car for the next build :

Nissan Skyline GT-R 34 Vspec-II

Added 3 days later:

Hi everyone !
It was very long but the new build is finally here !

"Version 0.3, Build 03" !!!
*LINK*

It is an enormous build with a lot of new features! (enormous by the number of working time...)

Here is the list of the corrected issues and new features.

- Accel + Brake in Neutral doesn't make the car run anymore.
- You can now rev engine while having the Handbrake in neutral.
- Engine seems to brake properly now.
- Some less important issues fixed.
- Tires have a little bit more grip than before.
- Grass slip factor have been reduced (No more "on ice" feel).
- Login Interface added.
- Garage Interface added.
- Nissan Skyline GT-R 34 added.
- Toyota Supra RZ added.
- Introduction before starting game added.
- Turbo BOV sounds added. (Turbo cars only of course!).
- New experimental Car paint shader.
- New experimental Glass shader.
- Possibility to Record your time and bestlap in the database. (Registered users only).
- Ingame Pause Menu (Resume / Restart / Quit)

That is all!
So, basically the biggest features is the possibility to have some more interactivity with members and build a more interesting community.

So please register here if you would like to have your time and bestlap recorded!

Due to the very big amount of work and no beta testers available, it is very possible that the game is buggy.
Very sorry for that.

Please feel free to tell me any issue you had.

Enjoy !

Better than last, really like new paint shader. Some of the texts doesnt fit into my screen. Cars easily can start in 4th gear. In the future it will be better that the cars have different sounds. I just noticed a few disadvantages, overall I enjoyed.

Yep, the text that does not fit in the screen are a known issue.
I will try to fix that in the next build.

To pick up a car, press Return key, or Spacebar.

@[Justas]
Yeah, some better and different sounds for each cars would be really nice, but sadly, they are very hard to find.
And of course i don't have any mic and real life cars to record them myself hehe.

If you know any place where i can download some nice Engine sounds, please let me know.

What about recording from another games?
Yeah, this is a possibility, however, i work abroad, and only have my MAC laptop to work, so unfortunately, i have no way to do this.

But if anyone want to try for me i would be glad !
Basically,

Need to get very good sound of the car, we need to take
Standstill
around 3000 rpm
around 6000 rpm
around 9000 rpm

Of course it depend on each cars, but basically that's it.

Added 9 hours 5 minutes later:

Actually, someone contacted me on a PM and gave me a great link to car soundbank.
I should be able to try it for a next build/update !

Say thanks to him ^^

@Daniel

That's right, as i mentioned in my previous post, someone sent me a nice variety of Forza 3 sounds.
I hope it will help my simulation to get a better overall feeling.

Because sounds are very important factor in racing game.
I think it participate actively to the realism and speed factor.

So, give me some more time to implement sounds on the vehicles and i release a new build.

This is what i like to see! :)
Lovin' the Gran Turismo style, especially in the menus!
Physics also seems improved from the first builds.

Keep working on, man! :)

Sounds wonderful, downloading it right now! The server seems to be a bit slow but I'll manage. WIll post some feedback after testing it.

Aight, tested it now and I have to say I'm impressed. The physics would use some major upgrades + imo in the beginning stages like this you should focus on the gameplay a bit more rather than getting more cars into it. Good job anyways !

Yeah, i also grew up with Gran Turismo 1 and 2 as a reference hehe.
Glad that you noticed the physics difference from the first builds.

Yeah, i also would like to add more contents, but this can only be done step by step.
Maybe in the future some modders could add their own tracks to contribute ?

This is awesome! Keep the good work up, and this will be even better! Just some handling issues and some glitches but looks very promising! Right now it feels more like a drifting sim than a driving sim! Still quite realistic stuff.

Haha, you are right Bigg Boss93, thanks to remind me how bad is my English ;)

btw, as vstanced have some incredible cars models, i was thinking that it could be awesome to be able to import cars or rims inside my Sim.

That way, talented people could ride their own custom car.
But, that is just an idea at the moment, i need more time to think about it.

Hi everyone.
The

Build n°7

is finally ready.
It took time but i think its worth it.

This build basically correct a lot of problems and is a good step forward in the good direction.
The physics and handling has been improved, and a lot of small details has been added to improve general gameplay.

I know that i still have a long way to go but its getting better every build so its encouraging.
Here is the link to download the last build.
Available for PC and MAC.

Dope work man!
Physics seems improved, i like how the car reacts at low speed.
I have some suggestions, try to correct the physics at high speeds, because the car seems to have low grip, slips a lot and handle a bit strange.
At low speeds it turns over a bit too much i think...
Menus are great with that Gran Turismo style!
Seems like you have added also more cars?

Hi everyone, just a small update to tell you that i am working on some soundtracks for the game.
This is a part that is often neglected by indie development team.
But i think it is really important to establish the general mood of the game and contribute a lot.

So i tried my best to give that little jazz feel that i used and still love in the Gran Turismo series.

Here are 2 samples i made.
It still WIP but you can get the idea.

This 2 songs are for Menus.
