Hinata is back!

Evenin', lads!

Some of you may remember me, as I posted about my Miata here that I bought from Italy last year. For those who don't, here's the tl;dr of my old RP:

I bought the Miata from Italy on suggestion of a mate and drove it to Germany. There I fixed some parts up, fitted Corvette wheels and painted it blue among some other small cosmetic changes.

Well, the reason you guys haven't heard from me since shortly after painting the car is that I moved. And not just anywhere, no. I moved to the United States of America. More precisely, to Calera, Alabama. I had to move here for personal reasons related to my family, and it was a huge and really hard step to make. But I did it. It took ages to get everything figured out and I spent a lot of sweat and time until I could finally move into my house here. There is only one sacrifice that I REALLY regret, though. And that's selling the Miata... I couldn't take it with me and I decided that I'd look for a new car in here, to prevent spending a ton of money on getting the car here. So I sold it through mobile.de, a German vehicle and part auctioning platform. I got about V$5.000 for it, which I was very happy with. After selling my car and getting myself a place to live in Calera, I put most of my stuff (like furniture I wanted to keep, some workshop tools and whatever else I could bring from my old home) into a container and sent it to the USA, about 2 weeks before going there myself.

After arriving in Dallas, Texas, I found a Uber driver at the airport who took me to Calera. A really cool dude, driving a 2012-ish Accord, and a relaxed driver. During the trip, which took around 10 hours, we talked about all kinda of random stuff and he even let me drive for a a few hours so he could sleep for a while. As we got to talk about cars, I found out that he is also working as a mechanic (I used to work as a mechanic at a Honda dealership before) and that he's the proud owner of a modified '93 Toyota MR2 SW20. He showed me some photos and I was instantly in love with it.
As we arrived in Calera, he gave me his address and I went on to talk to the owner of the house I'm renting.

After that, I just started living life in the States. I found a job at a local car shop, doing pretty much what I did back in Germany, just mostly with Trucks and V8 engines instead of Japanese I4s. I get along pretty well with my new co-workers and the boss is nice, too. I'm getting to work with a mate who picks me up every morning so I don't have to pay for the bus. Still I've had the desire to own a car again since the very first day...

But guess what happened last wednesday? The guy who picked me up from the airport came by for a visit and he told me about a local junkyard that had some kind of event where you could take everything you found as long as you got it out of there on your own. He knew that this was just the thing for me and he had brought his cousin's Dodge Ram aswell as a trailer. So we decided to go there and looked around for anything that seemed like an easy and inexpensive project. But just as I saw that old wrecked Nissan RPS13, I was sold. I needed to have it.
This is how she looked when I first saw her:

Pretty beat up, eh?
Anyways, I was looking for a project, so why not?
The car didn't have an engine and the interior was mostly gutted. It also had a completely wrecked suspension, the front left strut was even broken in half! The body took some extreme beating but the doors, roof and hood seemed to be fine. The electronice were destroyed and most fuses were burnt. The wheels looked like they'd been curbed a million times and I am pretty certain that the car belonged to one of those amateur Ken Blocks who think they know how to drift. Don't even make me start talking about the tires...

Though, the car had some upsides, aswell. There was a Koyorad radiator still in it, despite the engine being gone, and the battery seemed to be okay, too! And the best part about this car is that it comes right-hand drive! I think it hadn't been standing there for long, so I guess I was probably even luckier than I first thought.

Here's some pictures of further thing I liked about the car:

A seemingly undestroyed custom pop-up angle kit

A selfmade steel blast pipe

And these custom rear valances. Anyone know what they're called?

I decided that this was going to be my project car, so we rolled it onto the trailer with the help of 2 nice guys who were looking to find some parts and took it to my place where it's been standing since that day. I'm going to start working on it this weekend and I'll see how bad the condition is, but I'm looking forward like a little kid! If anyone of you guys is in my area, let me know! I'd like to receive some advice from more experienced people and possible meet up with people, just to chat about cars or exchange knowledge!

And I guess that's about it for now. Any feedback, advice, offer or hint will be thankfully accepted.
Let me know what you think!

I'll most likely update you guys on the project on sunday or monday, whenever I find some time.

Greetings from Calera

# Hinata23 : If anyone of you guys is in my area, let me know!
Well me and the boys are in Oklahoma, not really in your area but still much closer than most of the guys in the USA. :P If you need any interior parts for your S13 let me know! Also we have plenty of experience with S13s cause we worked on many of them and we still have 2 in our garage, so feel free to ask for some advice. ;)

Good luck with your S13, strange that you found a RHD one in a junkyard!
