ーCOPRONE`S GARAGEー

may contain photography & knowledge about old japanese cars

Yo, I am Coprone. I'm probably familiar to most of you already on this forum.
I live in Japan between Nihonmatsu & Fukushima and I'm 29 years old. I've been living here for the last 8 years, by nationality I'm Estonian.
As you probably guessed, I love cars. Especially a bit older cars, definitely made before the year 2000. Styles may vary, shakotan, drift & so on.

Currently I only have a Toyota Mark II Grande (GX71). That's my daily and used on track, too.

Hey hey. Finally some pictures & more specs for you all. If I missed anything, don't be afraid to ask! I'll try answer as much as I can.

My car is a 1988 Toyota Mark II (should be the facelift), chassis code is GX71 & it's hardtop. Wroom-wroom thing is 2.8 litre 5M-GE & 4-speed automatic gearbox throws the power to the rear wheels. Engine has been swapped out around year 2008. The mileage for the engine is approximately 220,000km & chassis has driven nearly 300,000km. Rust repair was done in 2009 with a new paintjob. New interior (from black to pink) in 2015. The Toyota has been in my girlfriend's family since it was brand new, so I know all the history & the fact it's been taken care of.

I've had this GX71 for 2 months now, it's my third car. At first I kept it as it was, but now I felt it time was time to tune it. What I'm planning? Definitely shakotan, boso & fukuoka mix. Last week I changed the wheels & slammed it with some custom coilovers, then I got the idea to create a topic here. Of course, this isn't a perfect example for a GX71. My seats aren't that red as they seem in the pictures, it depends on your screen really. Shortly, they are pink.

I like it as it is now. Also I would give it an LED lightbar instead of normal lights, but thats only my vision.

Thanks! For the record I don't want to go full bosozoku, just kyusha or something. Coprone as hell is the exact name for the style. Anyway, I finally found my old Nardi Classic steering wheel from my basement. As my Toyota had a broken adjustable steering column, we just removed it & placed the rack a little bit higher. That was a lot work, but imo worth it.

I also got APEXi FC controller installed. It's quite good & useful. It's for showing engine RPM, ignition timing, speed, battery voltage, temps etc.

My second favourite installation are my Pioneer TS-X10. They really match the aesthetics of this shakotan sedan, yes they are just small details but I love details. And they work too, so win-win.

Got the mandatory train handle & rear lip on my car now, too.

So, I decided to get my Toyota repainted to white. The old beige didn't look really great & clean. I also swapped my wheels & grille out, pretty cool.

I got quite good bumper & sideskirts for my GX71. Bumper is custom made & I'm sure there's no bumper else exactly like this one. About a year ago me & my friend made this bumper from GX71 bumper parts & AE86 bumper parts. We planned to fit it to his GX61, but never did. I don't know anything about the sideskirts though.
My new fitment is quite tight & low, it's practically an unpractical stance car almost. Fortunately I can still ride over bumps & edges without a lot effort. And by the way, I've been making a new dashboard for several days now. This should have been a secret, but I really wanted to tell you. Its current progress will stay secret, but here's a small sneakpeek of the first sketch ( *LINK* ), and yes, it's from a Corrado!

Thanks! At the moment we are swapping the engine. It's an 4A-GE 5th Generation Black Top from an AE111. I'll post pics whenever we're done. Tonight hopefully. Anyway, I'd say this "daily" Toyota has gone out of hands. It's a total kyusha Mark II now. I don't even what to do, de-mod it a bit or buy a proper daily car? It's just too low & full of small bits that needs replacing.
Oh & by the way, the dashboard is swapped. Partially. It needed a lot modifying, but now it's totally in its place. And yes, it's actually a Corrado dashboard, not a Cressida or something Japanese that's similiar. Why? We had a Corrado dash lying around from old project, that's why we used that. Steering wheel is bent, modded & hydrodipped. Don't worry, not an original Nardi.

Thanks. About my engine swap & my GX71. Not very well xd. We had quite a lot problems installing the new 4A-GE engine & in the end we just had a empty Mark II sitting on lift & 4A engine taken to pieces all around the workshop. The biggest reason we just gave up was because I found some deadly rust spots near the transmission tunnel I had never noticed before. I started realizing that the car wasn't really worth the swap, especially with such a different engine.

After just wandering around the workshop trying to clean up the mess we made, mate came up with an idea where to put the 20v Black Top engine. He had a AE86 hatch in his hangar sitting clean for 3+ years. Shortly, we trailered that hachiroku to our workshop, cleaned it, swapped all the fluids etc to make it moving on its own. It had been a part-time drift car since early 2000's, but was left behind. It's probably its 4th paintjob & second engine. It looks really stock & factory-original but a big number parts have been changed at the times it was at the track. When the "track-times" got over, Katsumi put most of the original & interior parts back on the car.

We didn't get that far to swap the Black Top in although this 86 belongs to me now. I already had swapped in the cup holders from my GX71, Nardi Classic & rims. And yes, Mark II has been left behind, kinda. I don't know what to do with the stripped kyusha sedan at right now.

That's how my AE86 looks now. We washed the body several times, including the interior.

Thanks a lot! Last time I didn't say much what I've done. I'm still using the AE86 as a daily drifter & GX71 is still without use (except for being a storage for parts).
I'll just list some main facts about my projects you could be interested in:

GX71 Cressida:
- Deadly amount of rust in transmission tunnel & other few spots under the car
- No engine
- Taken apart
- Sitting under a shed, sad
- Going to fix it
- Sold some of the interior

AE86 Corolla:
- Swapped 20v black top 4A-GE in finally
- Lowered with custom coilovers
- Fenders cut under flares
- Upgraded front brake discs & brakes
- No wired speakers, only bluetooth speaker
- Mufflers finished
- Rear boso/shakotan lip
- Taillights tinted (similar to Kornis' work) & new center panel

These were the things that needed mentioning, I think.

Thanks! Since it's my only working car, I'm using it as daily. As the 86 is now, it scrapes everywhere even without the sideskirts. I'm missing the front bumper lip as it has broken too many times. :D Oh by the way, I'm waking up the GX71 alive again. I'm swapping a SR20DE in it from a crashed S13. I'll patch up the biggest rust holes in the body, but I don't think they'll last very long. I might do something like bosozoku fenders and swap out the seats. Here's a pic I just took before rolling Cressida out from its spot to garage.

I might be putting a SR20DE into the Mark II, without a turbo. Not sure yet about it. Anyway, I tuned my hachiroku a little & here's the results. Or whatever it looks like now.
Steering wheel is from Mark II, gear knob is made to match with it; dash painted to match with seat; few electronical thingies; new bumper. The bumper is quite custom and almost fits the car. It's big & slightly has US look, plus I love the foglights & turn signals.
