There and back again

So now i've been in the shop in LA for a while, together with the Z32 and R32. Nothing changed on them until now, mostly because they were still on the way from Japan. Well the only thing i did was getting the 300ZX registered a few days ago, it was a bit more difficult than in Oklahoma but i still managed to do it. Also i got a quite special plate for it, and definitely the right one! :D

By the way, that Volvo in the previous photo belongs to Phonexius. Yes, he's finally back. To be honest i doubted i would ever see him again but i'm glad this wasn't the case. As you may have seen in his thread he also bought a LS engine and later a Mercedes S class! Wonder what he will do with those...

The R32, on the other hand, will probably be for track use only, at least with the current setup.

Even the 300ZX is quite a beast to handle on the streets.

Let's not forget about this Mark 2 here! Well i really don't know what to do with it at the moment, i was even thinking about selling it but the fact that it's one of the first and very few ones in USA has always been holding me back. Hopefully i'll get some ideas to rebuild it or something.

And then there's this 350Z. I've had some plans for this one but as i bought its older brother they didn't work out. I feel like this one has to go, it's a very fun car but if i really wanted a Z33 i'd either get a LHD example or a proper JDM import, the latter being a no go in the States. Now i have to find a JDM enthusiast if i ever wanna sell this thing! The best would be someone that owns a R33 to really justify the plate on it. That's why the Z32 has almost the same one!

I'll still miss it though, even if it's a bit slower than a stock 350Z it's great to drive. I did a bit of Christmas hoonage with it yesterday so i proved it! :P

But the 300ZX surpasses it in both looks and performance so i might not miss it so bad after all.

That's it for this year, let's see what the next one will bring us. Happy holidays! :)

Aaaahhh maaan I wish I hadn't spent my money on number 9s I have some more money to get a Z33. But then, there's import and taxes besides it's price......... :crying:

Also, I'd say keep the Mark II and have it as a daily or yet another drift car or uh......unorthodox swap project perhaps? :D

Nice man, not a huge fan of the Z32 bk but I wont wine about it I will move on the the Z33 it still looks as hot as when I sold it to you, I am sad to let it go but I were happy that it went to you and I am glad it is in a perfect condition. The R32 looks scary would like to go for a spin with it in my 33, also if I can recomand to swap the hood for an R hood to gave it an even scarier look :D....

In the meantime gonna sit here and watch the changes in your garage while I wait on my parts hue hue

Eh Lagano, all cars from Osaka end up in your garage haha, it is amazing to see two cars which were built in the same place standing together in other part of the world. Eh.. Time goes and things changes, same as in your garage, I might do a situation update before new years too because a lot of things has changed since you left. Anyways, happy holidays and see you in Japan next year again!

@phonexius that hood were installed for sleeker look of the front when Nismo front bumper was installed, so - more aerodynamic without losing effects of cooling and etc.

Thanks everyone!

@Smoke you can get this Z33 one day! And the Mark 2 is pretty much a daily at the moment but i've seen some great looking ones on my trip to Japan so i might try to make mine similar too. :D It has a 2JZ-GE which is already a great engine so a swap is not necessary, well maybe if i manage to find a properly built 2JZ for sale somewhere.

Hammer time!

I've been fiddling around with my cars the last weekend but then i remembered that the Mark 2 was sitting there for quite a while. I've barely even driven it until now because of a trip to Japan. And i didn't really have time to check everything out on it after it was imported to the States. So i thought that it would be good to do some maintenance on it! First i went to the store and bought new motor oil, brake fluid, transmission fluid and a few other bits and pieces. Later i noticed the muffler which was dented as all hell, i'd seen that as soon as we got the car but totally forgot it lol. I didn't feel like buying a new one so i tried to get it back in shape. After plenty of hammering, welding and pulling it started to look like it's supposed to. It's far from perfect but oh well, it's something.

When the muffler was fixed and the fluids were replaced i took the Mark 2 for a drive around LA. Even if it has a completely stock NA 2JZ it sounds really good with that exhaust! I also noticed that i turned a few heads sometimes but those were probably some JDM fanboys. I like that it's a very rare and special car in USA but at the same time it looks like an ordinary Toyota sedan! Well the fact that it's right hand drive might raise some eyebrows in the first place.

That's all for now, however stay tuned for later updates because tomorrow i'm going to Bosnia with Phonexius to help in his cousin's tuning shop. I've been on a lot of trips lately (too many to be honest) but it's always fun, i've also been in Bosnia once but Phonexius told me that we will take part in building some sick projects so i'm looking forward to that! :D

Thanks guys! Yeah i'd love to get ITB's for the Mark 2 but they're quite pricey and hard to find.

We in this BiH

Yep, i'm now in Bosnia with Phonexius to help in his cousin's shop and build some nice cars as both me and him already told y'all. You've probably seen this E92 too, i was very surprised to see such a modded example, especially in a country like this! Here in the Balkans people usually modify older cars, like E30s or Mk2 Golfs. But this one was something special for sure! The Liberty Walk bodykit and the wheels really make it stand out, well maybe this is not so unique in USA but it's a whole different story here.

Fitment is so well done on this thing!! With deep dish wheels and a wide body kit it's just perfect.

You'd think it's all show and no go but it has a few performance mods too! Ben's cousin doesn't race it or anything like that but he does some pulls occasionally, for example when i asked him how fast this thing goes haha. I can say it's very powerful for just a 328Ci, not what i thought before! Otherwise it's more of a show and cruise car than anything else.

And now the reason for even posting this - Phonexius and i were searching for a car to drive around so we won't need to take his cousin's E92 every time. However i wouldn't mind it! :P Anyway, he found this E34 and i immediately knew he'd go for it. It took us some time to drive there but it was totally worth it, it was quite enjoyable with the E92 anyway. Now prepare for a surprise, we got this for 2200 Bosnian marks which is a bit under 1300V$!!! A bargain for a 5 series. This price tag has its reasons though, and i could see them from far away.

I was surprised to see that it's a 535i, a rare trim across Europe, especially in these parts. Overall the body looked in good shape but it was very dirty and there were quite a few scratches and rust spots, i hope it won't be too much of a problem.

Looks like the seller was used to cleaning only the essential parts like headlights and windows, like me sometimes haha. The interior was very tidy and well preserved for its age though, which was a big plus for us cause replacing interior parts can quickly get expensive for this kind of cars.

The engine bay was full of dust but mechanically everything worked just fine! Aside from cosmetics it looks like the car was properly maintained so that's one less thing to worry about. The body will need a fair bit of work but at least we can drive it.

Phonexius said that we could both drive this E34 but it got me really excited to get myself something to work on! Perhaps some kind of a project car cause it's not necessary for it to be running for now as i can borrow this one or even the E92! I'll take a look at the local classifieds, see you guys when i find something good! ;)

Thanks for the nice feedback everyone! Yeah, BMWs of this era can be really beautiful. Well, ours is not quite but we're already bringing it back to its former glory!

This week we got not one, but two new cars! I've been looking for something that i could drive right away and also a bit more powerful because it turned out that the E34 needs more work than we expected. Eventually i ended up with this TT which is a 3.2 quattro, i'd say it packs a punch! Originally there were very little sporty or luxury cars in this country so the wealthier people imported them from Germany or Switzerland, just like this one. Many of them can be found for sale now, some of them for ridiculously cheap prices! This TT seemed like a good deal too as i got it for 15000 marks which is around V$8750. It also has a few mods such as coilovers and a sports exhaust system, something i would probably do so this car was a very good choice for me!

Overall i'm very happy with its performance, the V6 feels like it has tons of torque! One thing that i don't know whether i like it or not is the DSG transmission, i'm more used to manuals but this one can be either automatic or controlled with paddle shifters, which gives it kind of a supercar feeling. Still, i can say this is a great car for daily driving and occasional racing. :P

The next morning Phonexius and i went to Banja Luka to pick up the second car which will be our project. It's a Mk2 Golf, by far the most common and sought after car in Bosnia but despite that there are many ways to make it stand out! It was quite early and cold when we got there and the windows were still a bit frozen, because of that it had some problems when we tried to start it but it ran eventually. For some reason it wasn't registered, well i guess the seller has a newer car and doesn't use this one anymore.

The paint on the hood is quite faded and the right fender is dented, other than that the body looks solid without any rust, strangely. Everything functions as it should though so there shouldn't be any problems with it.

When i saw the interior i was shocked that this Golf has less kilometers than the TT which is almost 20 years newer!! Looking at it from the outside i'd say it has more but looks can be deceiving, i guess. And yeah, that's a clock instead of a rev counter.

At the moment we're gathering some crazy ideas for this Golf! However there's still the E34 to work on so more on that later. :)

^ For sure! Yeah the 1.8 turbo is a great powerplant as well but it goes better with the Mk1 TT, the one i have is a bit bigger and heavier so the V6 option wins in this case.

@Niatross Well the 1.3 engine definitely won't cut it :)) the mileage is very low for its age though! Still, it will get something more powerful. VR6 would be fun but the most common swap is either that or the 1.8 20V turbo. Who knows what Phonexius will stuff into it! :P

Lagano made a bit of a mistake there....
We didn't buy the golf for us. That golf is for one of the customers,he is in UAE right now and a lover of the MK2 Golf.
We bought the car for him,I have no choice or ideas for the build since I got a 25 page word document how to build it with some photoshop photos on the stance.....
Also another important thing is that all the factory parts from this car will be for sale if you know someone that has a MK2 golf and needa the pre facelift OEM parts hit us up.....

Making 'em good

So here's what happened in the last 3 weeks. The E34 turned out to be way more rusty underneath and fixing all that took some serious work from all of us in the workshop. Plenty of welding was done so the car needed a complete respray, we went for Indianapolis Red Metallic, one of the color options for E60 M5s and E63 M6s.

We also got some new body parts for it which will be installed soon!

Next up is the Mk2 Golf, this one got some major changes as well! We found a complete GTI bodykit including the grille and fender flares, fortunately these parts are not so hard to find because of the popularity and amount of Mk2s around here. Later on i had a look in the classifieds to find some interesting parts, and the results were amazing! First up, those "rally style" Hella light covers and a set of 16V badges, i'll explain why i bought those in a moment.

I don't even know what this part is called but everyone calls it "heckblende" like in German, anyway. If i think about it, it's completely unnecessary but i found it interesting! It's white and red so i had to clear the orange blinkers on the taillights to make it fit.

And now for the best find in the classifieds: 15" Zender Sport wheels! These are quite rare nowadays. Not the usual choice like BBS RS but still totally period correct, i'd say. To make these fit so well we ordered a set of Eibach Pro-Street S coilovers, together with anti-roll bars which should provide great handling.

And this is the reason for the 16V badges i mentioned earlier. Phonexius wanted to make an unusual engine swap on this Mk2, he had many different ideas in mind but most of them were way too expensive for this build. So we started looking around for parts cars with an engine which would make an interesting swap for a Golf. A few junkyards later we found a 1998 Honda Civic 1.8 VTi with the engine still in decent condition, that means we got a B18C4. It was quite an easy fit, something like the SR20 swap with my Mk2 in USA! However i didn't know how to make the transmission fit so i took some notes about that while we were doing this swap.

The B18 runs perfectly but there are still many things to be sorted out: Wiring, exhaust system, brakes and maybe a few engine upgrades. Well, it's probably less work remaining than on the E34 which is almost a bare shell at the moment!

Thanks man! Yeah, transmission was on the left side on the stock engine so it was easier to fit the B18 that way too. But yeah, it was the other way around in the Civic we got it from.
