Hey guys, been working on something sort of like an unofficial vanilla expansion pack. I'm working on adding a lot of parts for all of the vanilla engines as well as polishing/potentially re-doing a lot of parts. I've been posting over at GOM and figured I'd cross post my progress here as well :)

Hello! The parts you added are a bit too high-poly for SLRR's boxy engines IMO, but good work.

# KeeJay : Hello! The parts you added are a bit too high-poly for SLRR's boxy engines IMO, but good work.

Thanks! I've been making a conscious effort not to make them overly high poly, and the majority of parts are well within the stock part poly counts, so I think I'm good. I haven't noticed any performance drop whatsoever.

I haven't gotten around to doing pretty much anything below the cylinder head yet, lol. It's coming up quite soon, though. So far, I've been sticking to the vanilla textures, as if I make a new texture for say, the block, the color and shade of it will completely clash with the texturing on every single other part for the motor. It's definitely in the list of considerations, though.

Well, maybe not too high poly as the poly rate, but the looks. They are outstanding the rest, you know what I mean

I'm amazed that you can even open that site, each time I try to open that site it has an error of sorts

Thanks!

There was a bit of a misalignment of the cylinder head to the block that I fixed a while back, and it ended up screwing the alignment on quite a few different parts (cams, cylinders, crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons, bearing bridges... almost everything). Well, I finally got it all fixed :) I've also turned the 'camshaft bearing bridges' into proper camshaft bearing caps, and made the spark plug housings actually hollow so you can look through them at your pistons! I also added a 4A-GE inspired alternative cylinder head. I'd like to do another variation or two, but there doesn't seem to be many different designs IRL. I'm welcome to pretty much any and all suggestions ^^

Yeah, I gotta adjust the reflections on the cylinder head and valve covers for sure. Do you know whether or not adjusting the reflection amount on the material in 3DS Max actually affects the amount of reflection shown on the part in-game? I've tried it at 10 and 100 and didn't really see a difference.

Also, if anyone could point me in the right direction for making my parts paintable, I would greatly appreciate it! I tried following some of the public tutorials that were posted, but they were for car body parts, not engine parts, and as such, I never got it to work :( Something to do with rpks and the default car textures I'm pretty sure.
