Hey! I'm sorta new to this whole thing, so it might not be the best thread ever for now.. I've just recently moved from Essex, UK over to the golden state - Oakland, CA to be precise... I've been a fan of cars since I was a child, and grew up around them... I've wanted to move to the US to taste the scene since I was about 16. From the amount I've saved from working in the UK, I've got $20,000 to start off here with.. With me staying in one of the more glamorous cities in Cali, I've rented a place for $600 a month.
I've got to find a car soon though. I love JDM cars, along with older style Bimmers, and other Eurotrash  I'm not a fan of 'murican muscle, but I don't really hate on them, and I try to be as un-rice as possible.  I've got some pretty funny/radical ideas on what I wanna do with my car(s), some people may love them, some might not. Only time will tell  I've got to ACTUALLY GET A CAR first before I get ahead of myself though...I kinda want something small and fun to ruin... Something like a Miata or a 'Del Slow'. But I'll pretty much take what I can get right now tbh haha, I just want to get on the road really, so if you've got anything for sale for around idk.. 5k? (I'm not sure what that will get me tbh, so it might be more...) Give me a shout! But yeah, that's about it for now, anyone around Cali on here? Would be cool to know who's local since I know noone. So today after a couple days looking... I did a buy, it was a bit impulsive, but it's something I've wanted since I first saw one driving around my hometown that was slammed on it's arse hahaa.. It's not the cleanest model, but it's rust free, runs and drives, and comes with a hardtop! The guy originally had some nasty Rota's on it, so I knocked a couple hundred off the asking price and he stuck some old steels he had kicking about on her for me to get her home... Here she is!
((I was intending on buying one using one of the actual dealers, but I really wanted to get the RP started so I kinda passively RP'ed buying it - PROOF of pricing/the car I based mine off: *LINK* ))
Yes she's a bit rough, the interior's not great, the body's far from A1, but the engine's alright (painstakingly slow, but oh well haha). I payed V$3,100 for the car in the end, got her home and had a closer look around, but by then it was too dark to take pics So you'll have to bare with the pic above from when I just bought her..Got big (and maybe controversial) plans for this...

So yesterday some drunken shenanigans happened... After doing some drinking with some new friends I met, we got to doing some things to the car, some I'm more pleased about than others lmfao.. We started by painting the steelies black, one of them was badly surface rusted, and the other two were just pretty rough.. We took em off 1 by 1 with the jack, used some playing cards to mask up the tyres, before giving them all a dusting of black, the rusted one was sanded back before, and the other two were just cleaned. Another thing we did while the wheels were off, was cut the coils *Dun dun dunnn* we only took a coil off each, to eradicate the 4x4 fitment a little bit until I order some coils. Actually does look alot better than it was when I got it! We found some old rising sun decal in one of the boxes I still haven't unpacked properly (oops), and thought it might look alright on the car, so we popped the trunk and stuck it down on it, cutting off the excess. Still not 100% sure on this, but I reckon once I start doing more stuff to it, it'll look better, and if not, I can just take it off lol. And the last and probably dumbest thing I did last night, was rust the wing... Vinegar, peroxide and p*ss was the choice, didn't do a bad job to be fair! We did it around 11PM and when I woke up at midday today, it was already rusted! Stuck a obligatory "fapper" sticker on it too, just to annoy more If I end up hating it, I can always get another wing, so not too disastrous.. Wanted to graffiti some other stuff on the wing instead of painting it, but really not sure, what do you guys think? Another thing I did once I was awake, was clean the interior.. It wasn't honestly as bad as I first thought, but it was horribly dirty lmfao, alot better than expected, so that was a good thing I guess. Still wanna get some seats, and a nicer wheel on it though lol I wanna get some parts ordered from the net today/tomorrow, but if any of you guys have got some nice wheels in 15" or lower, or any other things you think I might like, gimme a shout with a price! Cheers EDIT: Oh yeah! If you didn't notice, the hardtop's been taken off too, I've got it around to mess about with as and when I wanna, but I didn't feel that I needed it on the car tbh, it looks great without it! And in the spring/summer months, it's perfect.

Update time! So a few days ago, a few packages came through the post, the first being from @Doge's dope shop, with all my stuff I ordered from them and it's all soo mint! The lights are f*cking amazing, and the splitter is so baller (although the Miata's too low to fit it on to now
saving it for my next car) along with the jack and the wheel iron ((Although I can't find them in my catalogue atm :/)). The second package was my new wheels from @giacomo1215, and they are absolutely beautiful So happy with it all! And for V$1020 combined, I'd say it's a great price too hahaa. That night I got the ambition to order some coils, so I ordered some AP Coilovers for V$600 used from a Miata facebook group.So today the coils arrived, and it's my day off, so I got to work fitting it all! Obviously I started by fitting the coilovers, jacking the car up 2 at a time, so I did it left then right, rather than front then back. While it was in the air, I took some time out to install the fogs, and play with the pop-ups, I ended up actually removing the motors, and bolting mounts on that keep them wonky like this! They've got holes so I can just unscrew and lift or lower them and rebolt them, but for now they're staying with the confused look. The fogs were screwed into the front bumper, in the mouth, I'd like to say the wonky right hand one was intentional, but it wasn't.. I'm just THAT bad at mounting things haha Looks great though! Suits the image of the car.. I'm thinking of some kinda redneck girl name to call her, because with the yellow buck teeth and confused stare, she definitely looks redneck!I then stuck the steelies back on her (new wheels were being polished and cleaned at the time), and lowered her down for the first time, and she's soooo low I love it!Then when the new wheels were finished being pampered, I put them on for the first time, and I'm in love! Suits the car down to the T! Looks so baller with the lows and the new wheels, they set the car off perfectly! Big thanks to @giacomo1215 again for these wheels! From one Miata to another ay HahaSo after I fitted them all on, I took her for her maiden voyage as a lowered vessel.. On the highway hahaha, it was the most logical choice, considering there are little to no potholes to smash into, but STILL I managed to bottom out, and creased my rear arch left a gnarly scar too, which looks pretty cool, not sure if I should respray, leave it or stick a sticker over it haha. S/O To my bro for the rolling shots.Oh and yeah, I got her registered! The plate definitely suits the personality of the car down to the bone hahaha, and yes I DID mean to mount this wonky! So happy with the outcome! Should have some interior bits coming soon if I can get this deal sorted, if not I'll still be on the hunt, and then I'm gonna look at doing stuff to the engine after! Dunno whether to just turbo the NA8C or stick another engine in haha, what do you guys think? |
