First of all i would like to say this thread is going to be deleted once we collect all the rules for the new roleplay area, so dont be surprised if all of a sudden you see it disappearing(together with your posts below).

Feel free to suggest what rules we should set, this is mainly refered to RinKK who proposed to create this area but anyone can suggest what rules set.

DO NOT CREATE NEW THREADS UNTIL WE SET THE RULES, thanks.

Roleplay rules:

All the threads must be named in the follwing way:
"Character name - Year of birth - Location"

or maybe

"Character name - Year of birth - Location - Work"

Also both, anyone can choose if write what their daily workplace is.

I edited it a little from the original "Name - Age - Location - Car(s)" since you wont be able to write all the cars in the thread title(it has a characters limit) besides being a little annoying to read. You can anyways write your cars as thread description(it can be done editing the first post everytime) if you want.

So, what else?

With so much drama in the V-S-T, it's kinda hard being Bigg B-O-double-S-ninetythree B)

Or maybe same rules as in the FB group? And no one day car builds. Just keep it realistic.

Don't really like the fixed name idea. Should be more along the lines of "(Username)'s Roleplay Thread" or something like that.

Not really about David's idea either. If it's our own thread we should be able to post as many pics of the builds as we want.

Let's put an amount of money we have to start with like 10k and then weekly updates.

Of course we can make more money but in a realistic way (Like 1000 or 2000 every 2 week).

And No unrealistic Price of cars (I mean we need to check how much the cars are worth in the country we like in: Like a clean S14 is around 10k in Quebec.(In OK condition is around 7k.)

No unrealistic Build.

I could come with some other Idea later on.

I like Ey Papa's idea too, some people buy a car one day, bare shell, and than the same day put in a 2j and do the all the suspension. Also, maybe info on much they get paid on their job, and some info on whats inspiring their build :) .

Meh. My opinion on realism is "let people vote with their page-views and comments". Most of the more fun roleplays to read are the ones by more "rich" RPers, who nonetheless research their builds, even if a lot of money would have to get dropped in order to make it happen; and you really can't make research mandatory unless you're handing out school grades, lol.

My problem with "no one day builds" is some of us have stuff to do (jobs etc) and can't spend time stringing out a single update and one IRL day's set of photos over two months, lol. (Then again, most of the demographic of this site seems to be 14-19, which probably kind of explains why people here are online when they are.)

Granted... I'm kind of willing to bend realism a little bit because "I made a bunch of mods and I want to show them off, dang it" is kind of an excuse. But I do try to present my builds as "this is an update after several months of work", most of the time.

I like the idea of having a budget, and maybe we can have global used car dealer ran by a moderator who can put in parts and cars for realistic prices so we have a solid source of where were getting parts and prices. Maybe a paint shop that can quote car paint jobs, a tuner shop with basic parts and etc with basic stuff for toyota, honda, mitsubishi, nissan, etc. then maybe a jdm importer that rarely has jdm motors trannys front clips etc, and also others like dyno shops, higher performance shops etc.

If this is set up with budgets and etc this will be amazing :DDD

Hey, if you want, I'm almost always able to find research information about model years and inflation-adjusted prices for all cars they made, say, more than 10,000 of (and that people actually care about).

Also, Craigslist is a good research source for general pricing guidelines. But that becomes impractical once you start moving outside of the US, because things are locally more or less expensive. (Sometimes even regionally! Lots of cars are more common or cheaper in California than they are here, and vice versa.)

Not really volunteering, though - see also "not enough free time". lol

building off that idea how about a start budget when we start like 50k or something it would be interesting to see how people do buying properly priced stuff and how some would fail

50k is reasonable. That said, I don't think I'm starting over. ;p

(Half tempted to start a new character, though. Maybe a thread for "my" garage and maybe a thread for one other character who's supposed to be in town too.)

If we're going to go all out on rules-making, we may as well make it run the way one of those pixel car role-play sites is run, or something.

Also, we could just put tags at the start of threads. "Budgeted" vs "Open" ("Open" meaning unrestricted).

I get a big monopoly feel about this, read some relevant and good stuff like:
- A bank system/auctioneer where you buy parts from, maybe even a comptetitor to make thibgs even so not everyone buys stuff fron the same dude..
- Id say no 1day builds as in,buying and building the car in 1day storytime, eg. You can build a car in 1day, but fabricate a story around that makes us believe you actually spend X amount of time on said project or w/e
- currency, create a universal currency that represents Valo City like VCD*ValoCityDollars that equalizes the field pretending every place we live in uses that currency, because not real but a game...

Thats it for now from me
Xtreme Budget Build Setup
- ASUS P8H61-I
- Intel Core i5 3570
- Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR3
- MSI GTX 1070 AERO ITX 8GB
- Silverstone SG13 mini-ITX w/ Corsair CS450M PSU
- Samsung 750 EVO 250GB SSD
- Samsung 1TB

If you support my mods, you can always buy me a beer to keep motivated!

^Keepo

if this is going to be reality, it should be top notch and be like a proper roleplay
so like, a weekly paycheck wud b gud, maybe its a good idea for a sub forum for this stuff, since its going to flood the main forum

EDIT: and like, a list of fixed(not literally fixed but just the mods you should use) mods and the prices of their bodyparts since most people leave the in game prices on default

I like this ^

When I made those few rp cars some time ago I started with ~10k€ and every part I bought I searched from internet. Example:

I bought Volvo 850 (checked actual price of used one)
I bought new wheels (checked actual price how much they really cost here + postage)

etc

And that makes rping more worth imo. If I want to go next level realism: I earn more money in ETS2 :DD

Roleplays with a specific storyline should be possible, even if they aren't very realistic.
If there's a Story RP, it should be mentioned in the title/introductory post.

It would be real, because most of us don't have that much money... but it wouldn't be "fully pro" :D

Added 6 minutes later:

People do that in real life, and when they drift, they fail miserably.

All of the ideas floating around on this thread are pretty mint. I think that once we get this thing up and running, I will create a new "character". I'm going to miss the S14 but, the new layout of this whole thing will be worth it.

Could it be set up similar to pixel car life? like a currency system that we have to constantly update when we buy parts/cars/paint work? weekly pay check.
Roleplay:
Stance everything! Ex-Desk Jockey working at The Art of Wheels, a wheel and tire shop here in California. just trying to keep it classy. I love low cars. Dreams of achieving onikyan fitment

2015 Ford Mustang 5.0 (Oxford White) - (Sold)

2000 Honda s2000 ( Silverstone Metallic ) - (sold) (1st in RP lol)

I want it to be like other sites, everyone shuld open their new Theard and u simply read only the build theards of persons who interest you.And inthat theard its all about your personal build.People can ask you stuff and comment but its still your build project. Its easyer to track progress from RP's that interest me, and not go through all the posts like it was till now.

Exactly like this: STANCE WORKS Forum

I think people should be free to use location, currency, job, start cash amount as they want.
1-Day car builders or super rich unrealistic guys will quickly get bored of posting alone in their own thread, so we can delete threads without posting after 2 month or so.
Well about the unrealistic builds... I'm kinda open to that in some ways. Imagine a guy whose friend is a mad scientist that drives a DMC De Lorean... O:-)
I think a well written roleplay will always be read and followed.

I agree with NK748. A super rich person could build a car in a much more "unrealistic" time manner than someone on a budget. I think members should be free to make their build thread how they want to. If we're not interested, we just wont follow the build.
I also agree that they will get bored of it faster and stop posting. So an inactive thread should be deleted or locked.

Well nope, there's no need to lock or delete any topic(the owner could anyways decide to post there).

So a short brief of the rules i like(and that are 80% sure going to be the official rules):

- Each user can have max 1 thread for his RP builds

- The thread must be named with this format: User name - Current character name, Age(year), Current location | example: Bigg Boss93 - Marco Bibbì, '93, Pudsey

- The player/user who chooses to restart his RP with another character will have to edit thread's title from the first post accordingly to the new data

- No money nor time limits, people will be free to follow the roleplay style they prefer(such as one day full spec builds), remember that a good roleplayer knows how to manage his "money" and builds accordingly and that not all the 1 day long builds are ugly nor all the 3 months builds are good(some will be able to amaze you in one day and some others will bother you for 3 months). There will certainly be a natural selection of the followed threads so no worries about that.

Any thoughts?

I like the sound of that. TBH, I think that if we were going to do something like Pixel Car Life, that will make everybody have to either get used to complicated rules or else leave, which is not really a good thing. We don't have a deep enough community for something like that.

I will be a little annoyed at "only one character at a time", but I might have to deal with that by just making more characters in town.

a few things i suggest are
Business's pinned at the top of the forum but only serious people running them
For business's maybe have things like peformance shop(pusdey),paint shop(maybe someone working at pudsey),local used cars, car importer,a cheap parts shop like supercheap auto(or what ever in your country,a panel beater, maybe some other things i cant think of
the ability to sell cars to the dealer for a relistic amount or try your luck maybe put the classifieds in a pinned post at the top
