Lol that's one of my friends. Firstly those are custom physics meaning he made them himself. There aren't any top notch physics out there, so yes you have to do it yourself.

There are no good physics out because no one made them good enough for release. I've tried to do something myself, but i could only get good physics for racing or drifting, but not both.

Everything is better than the stock physics. When you share both you can have 2 SLRRs, one for drifting and one for racing.

I loled at that video the first time i seen it, especially at some comment like "yeah no one noticed my custom phys"... the only little problem is that those are MY custom physics, not his, i would really like to see him doing the same precise thing with a stock slrr car or a mod that uses stock slrr physics meshes to see if it'd be identical. ;)

Agree with BiggBoss. Every "good" physics you see on youtube at some point sucks. That's why no one release them.
But i think it's possible to get better handling by completely rewriting Tyre.java.

If you people pay me a good internet i will start making streamings(either with livestream or youtube) about car mod making, step by step from converting the model from *insert a game name here* to making custom phys and gauges and whatever else. :P

what would you want to see in the video? improving physics is just a constant scripting -> starting the game -> testing -> leaving the game -> scripting... and that goes on and on. everyone who improves physics does it different way so there is no tutorial but i will tell you to start off with a config.java in system/Scripts/util/

the lines you are interested in are:

static float wheel_gndfeedback_factor
static float wheel_brake_factor
static float gravity
static float ground_friction
static float steerSpeed
static float steerhelp_turn <- decrease only
static float steeringPower ** <- BE CAREFUL WITH THAT ONE( **power steering**)

*** everytime you change something in the Config.java you need to start off fresh with the options file deleted // location: save/game/***

if you see some improvement move on to the Tyre.java in parts/scripts/rgearpart/reciprocatingrgearpart/ ...

you need to download those sources for editing -> MWM BETA JAVA PACK

then create a folder called src inside system/Scripts/util/ and put your Config.java inside the src folder.


** do never attempt modifying .class files! **

.java files are like an open and fully editable .class files that overwrite your existing .class files each time you start the game

Right, heres to clear things up.

Marco; i chose your car because of the physics files on it, they're well placed, well balanced, but thats not all there is to my game. My game has edited tyre,springs,shocks and even base values from config.java thanks to a friend.

JC; I do plan to release my whole game, sure it has bits and bobs leaked here and there but ill just remove javas and hope for the best.

Basically, BenyUK gave me the final parts to my game (config.java), after his input my game felt so much more planted, the aim for me atleast is to make a game that feels a bit closer to SL1 did, youknow not twitchy,not rolling over constantly, and i'm about 55% there and im working on it when i can. The physics alone will be released, i always have been against the VIP movements, which is why i was kinda mad when i got kicked from the darkside. I might be in wolves of valo, but we have nothing vip about us besides sounds, which will again be released by apendix in an all in one standalone game.

I hope this clears everything up, I have big things for you guys and sharing of knowledge between the community is exactly what i plan to do.

As i answered you on skype, without proper car physics there's no way to drive that way, so there wouldnt be a big difference even after changing javas because most of car mods uses stock slrr physic meshes(from baiern or whatever other stock car).

Try to mess around with Tyre.java, ShockAbsorber.java, and if you want to Spring.java (Although I don't recommend it because it f*cks everything up.)

Me personally i have deleted most of the scripts inside it like sliction, stiffness, load mul2 etc
if you want to go this way make sure that you delete each one of the lines that says sliction 000867.00 etc. otherwise you will get an instant crash to the desktop when you start your game

**(wheel.java is connected to the tyre.java so make sure you delete exact lines from both at the same time)**

i also think that you will get a much better result if you actually tried to play with friction, sliction, rubber_rigidity and such

Lol I haven't even messed around with wheel.java, but I have modified Tyre.java. Just out of curiosity what happens if you dont?
