Hello Bois
You can call me sleepy I was born in America but moved to Japan last year looking to work at the car scene I'm now a part-time mechanic but my main job is as a tuner that works as demand for various shops and people( so if you need some help feel free to contact me =) Enough about me now the good stuff my Cars: This is my 86 Corolla Levin Sprinter Coupe My daily/tog funhaver I bought this car last year from an old man that worked as a postman and had bought from the first owner in 2003 because it was his dream but as he got older he couldn't drive it anymore and the car stayed stopped for five years so he decided to finally scrap it. But when he got to the junkyard which I was getting a 2jz for a car that I was building at the time I almost jumped and went to ask him if he was scrapping and if he wanted to sell it so that's how I got a base model levin coupe that had 200.000 kms and dint ran but it was an ae86 for 3 grand and I was the happiest being on the planet. The car had some serious issues but except for the bride seats some Bilstein lowering spring and shocks the car was stock. My first goal was to fix the rust it had (THANK GOD IT WAS ONLY SURFACE). Then I had to pull the 4aGe out and took it entirely apart to clean and replace all the bearings and seals+worn parts which is the greatest two weekend I ever put myself into, and since I had a good knowledge of NA tuning and engine building since I have been tuning v8s since 14 (Texas baby) but at that time I wanted to keep car the closest to the stock as I could and since the car got back on the road about three months I've been daily driving it since then and it's being hella fun This is my HOTBOI project a 92 Silvia s13 I got this car from my friend that used it as an all-around funhaver that he even got to swap a blacktop from an s15 that I tuned which made 360 HRSPRS he beat the shit out of this car on a few weeks back he understeered out of a parking lot and hit a parking pole which crushed his front the supports and the radiator+intercooler so as he had other cars and I was looking for a new project I offered him 2.5k for the car without his wheels and he took it So this build is going to be huge I wanna build the best s13 I can on this os you guys will just wait as for the SR i have my plans for it but on another car that I am already looking into Economy 86 -V$3.000 S13 -V$2.500 WATANABE's and tires -V$800 86 parts -V$450 This post was edited by Sleepin mOnkey (2019-05-05 15:59, ago) |

Cams and turbo?
btw , for the silvia, in my opinion, just drop a KA24DE and turbo it, is more cheaper to buy , mantain and modify than the sr20, more reliable and holds more power (ka's with little upgrade internals hold more than 400hp, sr's 350), i reccomend you that fo your car, but if u want sr, go 4 it (orp : if u will do that , use the slrr 4 cylinder with ds parts) |

Gettin into some modsAs much as I was told to keep the 86 stock and I kinda wanted too but then after a couple of tough runs and autocrosses I decided the car needed serious improvements so it could sustain the amount of abuse that I wanted to put it trough At first, the Structure was pretty tired after all those years and even on a bride the stock belts weren't holding me enough So after these two I decided to strip the car and build a rollbar but also strut reinforcements the rollbar is partially welded and the struts also are made to be easily removable so I can still retain the function of the car as I love daily driving it But also got some money and bought another matching seat so I can give safe Shotgun rides for whoever wants it (Just don't pass out in turn 3). The Real thing started after I finished with the interior and I started by disassembling almost the entire engine for a big upgrade that's coming out tomorrow (any guesses) Added 8 seconds later: # Franklin : Cams and turbo? The 86 is a togue car and I am staying 1.6 so a turbo with decent power would have no response at the turns especially with a high rev engine but it is even cooler and cams maybe in the future as for the s13 I already have the whole build planned out and the SR already makes 350 Since its a late blacktop model and for the car, I want to put it in that's more than enough power but for the Silvia, I want something more Flashy This post was edited by Sleepin mOnkey (2018-12-02 03:33, ago) |

And good luck for the S13 build? And oh, I live in Tsukuba, just 18 kms from the circuit, so if you're going there someday, you can stop anytime at my crib (OORP: +1 for that Initial D reference ) |

I would suggest stitch welding the chassis of that 86. Old cars like that get really flimsy.

What i've been teasing you GuysSo afther a little of wait here's the reveal of what i was teasing yesterday As the headcover says ITS SUPERCHARGER TIME BOIS, and for those that were looking for a 20v Swap Feel free to whine... So i Bought the entire setup from a friend that used to run it on his time attack Aw11 but while getting towed the car was dropped and got totaled so he offered me the Supercharger as he knew that I'm an addicted to their whine Since my old Maverick with a Detroit 6.71 SC on the 302 that I drove back in high school His Setup was pretty legit Because he already Swapped the Compressor For a good old Eaton M62 with the electromagnetic clutch delete and the only main difference from the stock setup was a CNC bracket that was plug and play He also put on an intercooler so all combined this swap was making 10 psi starting from 1500 Rpm But with a Smooth 14 psi From 2500 RPMs so you get how killer and responsive this car is and I also have no worries since I already threw H-Beam 4340 Rods for 600Hp on the rebuild of the engine. Also Built a 4X1 Header with 1 3/4 tubing and 3 inches to an N1 Muffler which cost me 300 in materials As for now, I'm keeping the car with a 7 psi pulley till I get my new injectors and ignition Upgrades than this baby is going to be making some loud Noizzes After everything is complete and I finish the Second Stage of the engine (the first was built ported and polished NA) I'm hoping to be reaching around 300 Crank So it will be a hella fast Tofu delivery machine Added 3 minutes later: # Smurf : I would suggest stitch welding the chassis of that 86. Old cars like that get really flimsy. I really wanted to do this when I got it, But I needed a car to drive and space to work on, now that I have it ill hold it to the thirs stage wich ill mess with other things that will require chassis welding, also The rollbar and the struts already made it way stiffer |

TIME FOR SOME POWAAAHHSo yesterday I finished installing the last few bits on the 86 and took it to my friend's dyno and just with the TunerStudio autotune and 8 psi the car was already pulling hard but it was on 95 octanes and had nothing of adjustments so I was going pretty easy into it The mods I did were upgraded iridium spark plugs, 160lbs injectors HKS Oil cooler, Trd oil Filter, Flex Fuel sensor And a Koyorad Radiator all that so the car could support its power The Dyno results were First pass:210 hp the way it came Second pass:223hp Resquared Cams Third Pass:238 8psi and tuned fuel and spark Fourth pass:256hp 14 psi and readjust on the Map Then I decided to switch to e85 and after Some Few passes and then this happened (everything is crank HP) 344#HRSPRSHELL YEAH I was so happy that he was doing this at the crank and impressed but for this stage, I decided that it was enough when I got out of the shop the little 4age sacred the Shit out of me since which made me decide that I definitely need new brakes and a meatier tyre/wheel setup then to wrap up the day my friend sent me this shot of me lifting the throttle just enough to enough for the engine to shoot a flame and I get into the bridge without catching air and changing the inertia for the following crest. al these upgrades cost me 2.250 since most were used parts Added 2 minutes later: Also, bought a Cedric y33 from this gentleman friend # Franklin : DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN! Just HMU and we can hit it as for your words i really wanna see what are you going to do with it |

# Sleepin mOnkey : Hell yeah indeed the 86 is pretty fast I think I can keep with your supra on the WanganIn wangan idk, because wangan is an endurance race, for speed, not acceleration, because wangan race you expect 300kmh easy in straight lines or wide corners, for long time, so is required a long gearbox ratio for high speed, so idk that the 86 can keep up in wangan, also i told you thatthe car will need heavy work in chassis, suspension, etc. However in the touge, the thing is completely different, because you will need acceleration, handling and instant power, not so much final speed, and in there the 86 is a killer! because is nimble, powerful, and the handling is beautyful! In touge the 86 will be pretty even with the supra, because my car is powerful, but heavy an big, not good in touges so in the long straights i'm in advantage, but in the corners and short straights you are in advantage, also my supra is more focused in high speeds rather than acceleration. For every type of race are a type of car, the 86 is most like a touge, circuit or autocross race, or maybe 400mts drag race because is light, his handlingis beautyful and your car got the instant power, but for wangan, you will need long ratios, more power and a setup more focused in final speed rather than acceleration If you do not believe me, look how many ae86 do you see in wangan and how many in touge, circuit, autocross or drag races? It's for that reason, and do not get me wrong, your AE86 is a beast, which can sweat blood to my supra in circuits with many sharp and open curves, short straights, etc, but on highways, I do not think the ae86 can keep up so much, because the wangan focuses more on final speed rather than acceleration, also is anendurance race, holding more than 300kmh for long time, a lot of work in cooling system and lubrication is required, among other things And in my case, my car in the current state can not compete with anyone in Wangan, I will need a new differential, the camshafts and a new tune with more turbo pressure, also need more work in the cooling system, lubrication, etc, so my car isn't competitive in wangan also It is almost impossible to build a car that is perfect in touge and wangan, because one requires acceleration, and the other final speed, if you focus on one, you sacrifice the other But hey, maybe with a longer ratio you can keep up with my actual stage of the supra, but sacrifice acceleration, which will cost you a lot in the touge, autocross or circuit, where you need acceleration rather than high speed, idk, all is possible... In my opinion, with the 86 you would have to focus more on a circuit car, touge or autocross as you are doing now, the 86 shines like no other car in those races! Then for wangan, try a FC, FD, R32/33/34, A70/A80, Lancer Evolution, Impreza STI, 300zx Z32, Mitsubishi GTO, etc. But hey, you're free to do what you want, it's just my opinion and recommendation What's more, Someday i will buy and build an ae86 for touge so we can compete in more equal conditions, so in a little bit we'll see each other face to face with two ae86, it will be very interesting! Whenever you want we can try and race, wangan and touge, Peace! This post was edited by Franklin (2018-12-05 20:00, ago) |

Alredy messing with the CedricSo Yeah as I said yesterday I went grab a Cedric that I bought from @franklin's friend For a pretty decent price and the car didn't look bad on the ad but when I got it and inspected the car had tons of problems especially the poorly done Swap and wiring issues I almost gave up since the steelies that he had got tires that were dead a long time ago.
. So I offred his friend would put the old wheels and take the car to the shop that I work and he also dropped the price 500 Bucks after I told and explained all the work that I needed to do in order to have a car in good shape So after he got there and I paid his uber back as thanks for the way he understood and helped me, I've put an old set of r33 wheels that I had storage an then traced a plan that consisted in: 1-Strip the car to the rolling Shell 2-Primer and re-paint 3-Re-Make the engine mounts and tranny mounts 4-Install the 350hp SR20DET 6MT S15 Powertrain That I pulled from the Silvia 5-Wire the engine and Basic electronics 6-Re-do the car's Audio and Misc wirings 7-Clean interior and Re-install Sanding the car was pretty easy since the shop had pretty legit bodywork tools and the body was in good shape and had no misalignments (the main thing that made me do the offer) after an hour and half the car was in a booth being primed Then while the car was Drying to receive the paint I went with all the measures that I had and started building the new engine mounts which allowed me to put the engine way lowered and have way better drivetrain angles. Also took on the opportunity to start organizing the entire loom of the Car so I could save time when putting it back. The Car was painted on a single Stage PU based black paint which I did in 4 layers each spaced 15 mins from each other. The original plan was to paint it Special Silver but as I want to use this car to shred as I can I decided to go with something more simple. When the paint Finished Baking I already had the mounts to put the engine in which I did in only 20 minutes with already everything bolted But then it was 22:30 and I Started 17 PM and had to sleep so I could work tomorrow but I decided to push Further to finish a least more than half of the list Wich I did in one hour the engine was wired with a loom in two parts so I could easily remove the engine in case I needed it, Then I decided to quit knowing I had a 20 min trip to home (Which the Freshly tuned 86 did in 14 min LOL) and pushed the car on the booth and set it to bake the paint slowly for a better finish. Some of you may think I went too fast on this build but you guys must understand that I work in a fully equipped shop and that I've been working on this for 3 years by now so I have lot's of experience in order to build a car this fast. Cheer's |

The cedric was so bad? Damn, really i didn't knew the wiring mess...
I remember that i made the swap with him about 6 months , an stock s13 sr20det, stock ecu, stock turbo, etc, and wasn't the most beautyful thing , but the car wasn't beautyful too, after all, is a street legal drift missile, and is a waste to do an extra beautyful show car engine swap in a car that probably will be trashed in Ebisu, the owner was short of money and needed something functional, but the work was good and it will work, wiring was good, etc, some details wasn't beautyful or pretty, but the job was 8/10. But the owner later swapped the turbo, the ecu, he put an apexi fc, and some other thing, and probably he made that electrical mess, so yeah. The swap in first place was done good, not perfect, but good, but was completely stock sr20det, stock turbo, stock ecu, custom wiring (but well done), etc The S15 Turbo with front mount intercooler, and Apexi FC ECU were added later by the previous owner, and i think that those things, especially the ecu the main problem. The truth is that I feel bad, because the truth was that the car was fine, since I had worked in it for 4 months and the truth is that the result was good, but I did not believe that the previous owner had ruined it so much. A thousand apologies, if you want I'll help you with it, if you need something call me. |

# Franklin : The cedric was so bad? Damn, really i didn't knew the wiring mess... Nah the most of the stuff were accessories that dint worked and as the engine, I just went on the smaller details at the wiring Just simplifying and removing what wasn't necessary since I've put a different engine into it and it had a Standalone I would already have to re-wire the engine and your job on the swap was good but I really saw tons of space that could allow the car to have the center of gravity lowered so I went for it , I am so peeky with these things that on my Miata back in us I redid the oil pan and lowered the engine 2 inches for better handling Nothing personal man |

NOW THATS A LOTTA RUBBERSo yeah as said the ae86 Suspension needed serious upgrades to keep hold with the new power so mi pushed the 86 into the garage and started tearing everything apart for the upgrades
So yeah I definitely fit the car in tight space but that's the benefit of a short car Yeah I had to take even the arms out because I got a full Pu bushing kit From techno toy tunning which cost me 150 bucks Then hell yeah Greddy type-S Fully adjustable coils which I paid 1.750$ and a DC5 Type-R Brembo Kit wich my friend gave me from his car that I'm building to complete the cake and take the rest of my money a set of volk TE-37X 16x10 and fitted with some potenzas 265 square and a little-staggered but now this boiiii is planted with all that MEAT But the major problem now is the fitment which is a bit off so now I have to decide which ovefenders to get for it This post was edited by Sleepin mOnkey (2018-12-13 14:58, ago) |

New Whip...But first Some backstory So after Christmas I decided to rent Blackout at Ebisu for Drift tourists since I was using the 86 way more and a couple bucks would be very helpful and since it was with a friend of mine who was going to run I wasn't concerned too much and if something happened the contract had insurance But I was sure to remove my r33 wheels cuz I could so he went for over a month fine and when I was free of clients I used it to give some drift lessons for sum bucks But the thing is something happened one day a kid got too excited and went straight reverse at turn 1 (after the Jump)and after he hit the barriers the car flipped so my friend called me to check. So I just called the insurance company and they decided that the car was done since the frame was bent and lots of welds were broken and since on the contract it wasn't for a street vehicle the handling of the wreck was on me which allowed me to save the engine which went out almost intact except for the intercooler, radiator and water pump who were destroyed when it flipped, the Mustang Brembos, The bride's and the steering wheel + I got the 5500 dollars totaled prize from the insurance plus the 21 days of rent the car was rented at $100 a day and the 12 courses I did wich I charged 150 for the full three hours and the rent discount got at $75 the final math is Insurance Prize +$5500 Days Rented +$3000 Classes+$1800 Costs:gas and others -$300 Total = +V$10000 With all that money I decided to look for S13 Hatch shell and got one with all panels and interior for 2000 a very nice deal because the guy had blown CA18 and needed Some money for his drift car so I got a pretty good clean shell s13 perfect for my daily project it was a 1990 charcoal metallic type 1 the shell had 132.000 kilometers but was in pristine condition such as the interior no cracks just the natural wear. First, the car was entirely stripped to the shell Stich welded and got a full 6 point roll cage At D1 SL regulation just in case. Also fixed the minor rust spots and dings on the body nothin than half of a week of short sleep couldn't get done. While working on the engine I also got replacements for the damaged parts on blackout's old SR also managed to get a set of eagle rods and a Greddy intake manifold from a friend which in total cost me around 800 dollars but the Sr is now ready to put over 500 horses Exterior wise the car is almost full OEM Except for the Ganador mirrors -$200 Custom made roof and trunk spoiler, kouki fenders and taillights -$250, basic rolled fenders and to tie everything a two-tone Oem Black and Aztec Red paint job -V$450 At the interior, there were lots of goodies like a set of Greddy Sirius gauges for $400 with the controller, a Digital dash with the American HUD $200, a Nardi steering wheel and a vertex gear knob that I traded for Blackouts steering wheel, Audio stuff -$300, The hydro which I customized -$100, D-max mats -$100, Bride Lowmax seats (traded for the Gias) and to tie everything a full Ultrasuede Upholster with a F*cked dash One of the parts that most got tweaked was the Suspension the car received full Godspeed adjustable arms -$550, Custom 4340 Drop Spindles (i made), 4340 reinforcements on the subframes (also me), A set of Tein Super drift Coils And an EDFC Active Pro Controller with all options -V$2200, To complete the old mustang brakes and he sits on a set of Centerlock Hayashi Racing Super Street wheels and Michelin tires -$2500 After all the money I think I have my new daily and it is just amazing how all the carefully planned and executed mods tie together making this extremely low and simple looking S13 a beast, for now, I'm going soft but I still have some future plans for it and a new project upcoming soon. Economy Blackout +V$10.000 S13 Spent -V$10.050 x9 Payment +$4320 |
