Hi, my name is Tyler. Originally from Texas but i moved to Osaka, Japan about a year ago in hopes of experiencing the vibrant car culture here. I work as a mechanic in a shop that does both service and tuning for jdm cars. During my time here i've seen a lot of the automotive goodness as i could, going to famous tracks, and spectating automotive events. I decided it was time to further my ambitions and buy a car. One of my co-workers told me about a 180sx his friend was selling, so i checked it out, and bought it!

The previous owner used it as a second casual drift car, so it has ksport dampers and tein coils. The motor is an all motor sr20de, which i thought was weird but the owner said he wanted to try a naturally aspirated powerplant. It's not a lot of power at all but it surely gets the job done. I also am fond of the stickers on the windows. I managed to get it for V$3,400.

I have a vision for the first iteration of this build which i cant wait for y'all to see!

Ahhh the S-Chassis I can't wait to see your take on it, it's super clean for being a former drift car though, "sniff" makes me miss mine.

Got up this morning and went up to the mountains for some photos and to try out drifting the car.

I must say the previous owner tuned the suspension really well! It feels great and the all motor sr is actually pretty fun! I love the stock body lines of s13s though and im so glad to have this one. Next update the car should have some new body parts!

Really enjoy the appreciation for my 180! Thank you!

I spent the weekend Buying parts and working on my car on my day off monday at the tuning shop i work at, and here is what it looks like now:

I love it! I wanted to keep the "Chuki" look as it reminds me of the 240sx models i saw back at home all the time, meanwhile it still being pretty jdm too. The Hayashi Streets are mounted on stretched toyo proxes which my shop happened to be selling for V$1800.

Saturday afternoon i went up to northern osaka to buy the chuki skirts and chuki lip for a combined V$750. Interesting enough, The s13 i bought the parts off of was in the process of being made into a D1 Divisional comp car! How cool! He told me he was going to meihan soon to test his s13 once it's finished, so i will definitely have to go see that!

Next i'll do some minor motor upgrades before i thrash on the car in the mountains some more and try to hit up a couple drift courses!

Thanks for all the compliments on my car! and as for the scraping i generally take public transport most of the time anyways as it's easier but when i do drive the car i have to be very careful, but i havent taken it on very long of a drive and the roads where i live arent too bad. when i do go on a longer drive like up to some courses or to meihan i will probably readjust the height for the drive.

The past two weeks have been great!
About two weeks ago i ordered some itbs for V$800 and an hks exhaust for v$200. That weekend i picked up my buddy and we went to UpGarage. I've been to UpGarage to browse and see the selection, but it was cool to be there with the intent of buying stuff! I was on a mission for a seat and wheel. I managed to get a bride zeta seat for V$600 and a used Nardi steering wheel for V$200.

Last week i got a call from the guy who sold me the chuki parts. He told me his D1sl car was done and he was going to meihan that weekend. I told him i had just got new parts and i would attend. I was still waiting on my exhaust, and it came in friday before meihan! i threw it on and took a pic of the car at the track!

The exhaust is helping the rear end look less boring, but i do have plans to get the rear end looking better!

I met up with the seller of my parts to check out his finished s13.

It looked epic, and he was killing it on track! his v mount sr setup was awesome! some inspiration for when i decide to go turbo!

I finally had my chance to take my car on track, and i had my buddy take pictures

The car is super fun and i had a blast ripping it at meihan! im going to have to up my game pretty soon though!

I now have a stock sr plenum for sale, a hks air filter for sale, and a stock 180 exhaust so let me know if anyone is at all interested in these parts.

It was time to up my style game a little bit and this time around i wanted the rear of my car to be the focus. I went online and ordered more parts: A rep BN sports inverted hatch at a the price of V$350, for the culture, Koguchi power rear fenders because i love the distinct rolled fender look it has whilst also being a bolt on part on top of the factory fender as well. this cost me V$502. I then thought about a possible wing, and remembered Akinobu Satsukawa's r32 and had my heart set on a drag wing. i found one on ebay for V$300. I went ahead and bought some spacers too for V$40.

I definitely got the look i was going for! IMO it looks better than i was hoping! now i wanna get the car painted. I also dont know how much longer ill be on these hayashis, so if anyone wants to buy them or offer a trade i'd be willing to consider it.

I was so excited about how my car looked i decided i'd drive it into town to go shopping and take a couple pics of it

BIG UPDATE

Two fridays ago after my shift i did a service on my car changing out the fluids. This cost V$150 to complete after buying all the fluids needed. Decided i would take the oppurtunity to get a shot of my car at work.

Oh yeah, the seat. so i had a Bride Zeta bucket seat but last week during one of my work shifts a co worker told me about an awesome garage thrash seat someone sold to our shop. Our boss buys random parts from people and re sells them at our shop. Most of the time it's nothing special. But occasionally people do sell some pretty good stuff, like the Hayashis on my car, and this awesome Zebra print Garage Thrash seat! Once i saw it i knew it had to be mine. so after my shift i went up to my boss and he sold it to me for V$250. It's pretty old and i had to do some cleaning to it before i put it in my car.

Anyways, after i serviced my friend and i went up to the mountains so i could drift the car some more. i had my friend take photos

We went up there pretty late, and i ended up driving up and down that pass until the sun came up! good fun! The sunrise was stunning, so naturally, i took another pic

Earlier that week i ordered a replica dmax hood for V$649. It came in last week so i installed it and took the time to roll my front fenders, which is something i have been wanting to do since i bought my kpower rear fenders

Im very happy with it as it's helping to bring out the overall look of the car.

Last weekend was the weekend i decided it was time to get the car painted.

What do yall think? I personally am in love. I'm so happy with the way my 180 is coming along!

I have some parts officially for sale. They will be going up in the used parts section if anyone is interested. There will be my bride zeta seat, an hks air filter with an sr plenum, and my hayashi streets. prices will be on the used parts classified

Alright, so i have decided to come back and update you guys on whats happened with me and the car over the last year.
First off, i moved up north to Tochigi prefecture to work at Car Shop Rebel. A great shop with amazing guys. Working there allows me to see and work on a lot of really cool cars, and has allowed me access to more amazing parts. My car hasnt gone through too many changes in the past year, but there are some pretty significant ones!

This is how the car looks now. Most noticeably is the K-Style front Bumper. Car Shop Rebel is able to source out some pretty awesome parts, so copping this was pretty epic!

Car Shop Rebel also sells classic SSR Wheels at large, so i got these 15 inch MK3s for it. I love these wheels as they make most cars look amazing!

I also got new Bride Lowmax Seats and a super cool KEY's Racing Wheel

The best of it all though, is that i finally went Turbo!

It's a Garret T28, and the v mount was out together by the guys at Car Shop Rebel! (They're really awesome).

I'll keep y'all updated on what i do with this car. Pretty soon i'll be headed up to nikko for a Low-Style Drift event so i will be prepping for that over the next few weeks!

Thank You!

This update i wanted to show yall the awesome garage i have at my new place, and some other things i did over the weekend!

There is my baby all nice and parked up in the garage! It's significantly larger than my last place in osaka. I moved all my stuff here from my last garage, and have accumulated a lot of junk as well

I've also put up a few cool posters to give the place a vibe and give me some inspiration.

So moving on, At work in the shipment of parts were a few cool bits. One in particular was this custom roof spoiler.

I was skeptical about buying it at first, as i wasnt sure how a roof spoiler would flow with my drag wing, and on top of the inverted hatch. But i figured it was a risk worth taking so i bought it.

It honestly doesnt look too bad right now! I'll just need to paint it ASAP and im sure it'll flow much better!

That weekend was more touge time! I met up with a fellow 180sx friend of mine

His car is also a turbo sr20, but visually his is the newer and better Type X Model! It's got dmax fenders front and rear, and as fr wheels theyre ssr kei office dori dori up front, and Blitz 03s in the rear, all measuring at 17". It's a hell of a setup.

With a t28 turbo im able to lead on the uphill with ease. The car is a dream to slide on the mountains now!

My friend was absolutely ripping it in his type x!

I was having an absolute Blast as usual!

In regards to the low style event, it will be at nikko on August 11th. Let me know if anyone is gonna make it and ill catch you there!

Damn, you guys make it look beautiful sliding on the touge, I hope that more guys will get back into this "behind the scenes" drifting which happens in the mountains, can't wait to finish my drift car, so I will be able to join you guys, lets bring back the touge haha! Also count me, I am sure that I will make to Nikko event too!

God damn ! That's just amazing ! I really love style of your car ! It looks fire and it really stands out in the RPS crowd! I'll come at Nikko as well , I haven't been to a car meet in a long while ! I also need to experience touge with my ER , I wonder if that thing isn't too long to slide on the narrow touge roads...

Either way man , if I had an RPS right now , I'd probably build it with this kind of style in mind ! Awesome cars ! I love em !

Thank you guys for your very nice comments! Let me know what car yall plan on bringing to nikko, i cant wai to see yall there!

Nothing too crazy this week. Just got the roof spoiler painted, bumper lights installed on the bumper, and got my 180sx logo back on.

I also Bought a Boost Controller! i dont plan on pushing for hella boost or anything, but having the option to adjust and control boost pressures will be very beneficial.

On another note, ive been thinking about buying another car after nikko. I'm having a lot of fun with this one but its kind of stalled in terms of visual modifications. I dont really wanna get rid of my current look, so maybe i'll buy another s13 or an ae86 or something, idk yet. But id love to hear your ideas on what my next project could be! I'll keep my eyes on the classifieds in the meantime!
