# RocketBunnyS13 : Thanks a ton guys!

Added 1 hour 32 minutes later:

TRACK DAY? LET'S GO!

Hey fam! It's been a while since I've updated my progress on the car, been busy these past weeks hehe.

So yeah, long story short I drove the C-REX (Yes that is what I have affectionately named it hahaha) to Suzuka Circuit in Suzuka from Tsu. It was a cool 24 minute drive, apart from the anxiety of the car breaking down on me, but thankfully, it didn't do that at all.

In fact, it held up well and took a beating! PLUS, I got to drive the car home with NO problems whatsoever! I know, it's a miracle HAHAHAHA

When I got there, I paid the registrar 3,900 yen (V$39) to rent the track for half a day, got briefed with the rules and guidelines, and prepared my driving gear.

Drove the car out on the track for testing. Did 2 slow laps around to familiarize myself with the grade changes and corners.

Then, I WENT FOR IT.

I started pushing the car harder and harder, gradually building the engine up to that glorious peak of 160hp, coupled with an 8,000 RPM orchestra. VTAKK yo!

But after about 5 laps of pushing the car I realized what needed to be done to the suspension, had to re-align for toe (toe-in rears), and adjust the suspension dampening, with softness biased to the rears in relation to the slightly stiffened fronts to avoid the bit of fishtailing I've been getting at the corner entry.

But I was like nah, a few more laps should get me used to it.

SO I did just that. And sooner or later, this started happening.

Inner tire smoke caused by a combination of understeer and compensation which led me to dip said inner tires into the grass a bit!

Tried to get my act together and push it even harder (which probably wasn't the best of ideas). That led me to this.

HAHAHAHAHA :)) Press F.

So I finally visited the pits and did the respective adjustments. Voila! Instant improvement. Not the best, but I sure felt the difference.

Much better traction and feedback from the car throughout the rest of the day. After a couple more laps and minutes, I decided to take a rest and cool both myself and the car down.

Got to let the car rest under the cool shade of the pits haha, here's a photo.

Then right before I left, I managed to snag some still pictures on the track while there were no people.

And that marks the end of my track day session with C-REX, as well as the beginning of my 30 minute trip back home, starting with this mandatory gas station shot B)

Oh yeah! P.S. Got to sell the CR-X stockies to a local for 10000 yen (V$100). Also got to close a family court case and got paid 450,000 yen (V$4500)

Thank you man! Yeah I'd love to join and give it a shot but I don't know if this car is even worthy of joining, plus I wouldn't know what I'd do with a set of D1-Spec suspension hahahaha

UPDATE!!!
TURBO: ON!

This is it. C-REX is finally getting boosted!! I took it to a very well-known reputable shop, VStanced Garage, there are a lot of branches, this one was in Osaka.

Back when I had just acquired C-REX, I checked all of the writings on the chassis plate, and I found out that the factory red was different from its current red shade. The car itself was like a darker red. It wasn't metallic, but it was darker, so I assumed it was Milano Red. Because the car was gonna get worked on due to the turbo conversion, and since the paint and body weren't in their best anyway, I decided to just repaint the whole car in said factory red, a lighter, more vivid red, that the car came with according to the body; Rio Red!
(Hmmm let's see how many times I say red in this post)

Here are some pictures of the car with the completed swap, car was all stripped and ready for paint at this time.

Here's a closer look. Stock B16A SiR-V block and head. Turbonetics T3/T4 T04E .63AR Ball Bearing Turbo, Turbonetics Braided Oil and Water Lines, 26.71mL/sec. FastWayRacer Cast Iron Turbo Manifold, 38mm Turbo Wastegate to vent @7PSi/0.47bar, 2.5" Downpipe, TRE 500cc Fuel Injectors, Walbro 255LPH Fuel Pump, K&N Intake. Custom fabbed turbo piping, Mishimoto Intercooler. Still on the stock plastic rad, should be able to hold up okay.

Turbo plumbing.

Bodywork and some priming. Oh yeah, I threw on the Accord stockies that time. It was temporary because the car was having some extensive work done to it.

Engine out. Interior almost completely out.

Paint booth!

Some of the parts laid out for fitment before paint.

Wheels, masked. The next thing to mask? Just about everything else.

I paid about 110,000 yen (V$1,100) for everything, materials and labor and all.

1st deposit of 50% before the job, and the rest when the car was finished.

Speaking of which, I got this message 3 weeks later:

BOIII

To be completely honest, it wasn't a major exterior change, just a lighter shade to satisfy my OCD is all.

A week after that, I took the car to a reputable Honda tuner, also based in Osaka (decided not to waste the 2 hour drive)

DYNO TIME!

Car was strapped in from the bottom, and was put on rollers.

Final figures? A WHOPPING 249 whp and 229 wtq! Those are almost double the power figures!

Super happy with how the car is right now! I am gonna ENJOY thrashing this thing, making choo choo and pshhhh noises!

Also,

BONUS SHOT!!

This was taken on the way home:

TOKYO PICTURES!

(Because there is literally nothing to update on the car, everything runs great so far)

The A'PEXi PowerFC Commander I bought for the PowerFC ECU on this car needs to be relocated for ease of access (installed it during the turbo conversion). I'll replace the subframe bushings and ball joints in the near future, but for now they are fine and still holding up.

#MAXIMUMATTACK
C1 Loop High Speed!!!

While I was in Tokyo, I stumbled upon an empty lot, which means:

MORE PICTURES!

That's it for now. What do you guys think of these mini-updates btw? Kind of like blogs since there really isn't any progress on the car. Let me know your opinions! Oh yeah, more pictures to come soon! HAHAHAHA. (This car is so reliable it's unbelievable, it's my daily driver for fuck's sake!)

Finances:
V$18,020 + V$565x12(weekly paychecks) - V$800(day-to-day costs for 3 momths)=V$24,000

WELL, THIS HAPPENED. GAME OVER.

It looks like leaving early and not getting to meet you guys was a blessing in disguise.

YUP. This just happened on the way home.

Thank God I was already in Nagoya, Aichi when it happened. Just have to get the car towed to WestKyo.

It's been a good 4, almost 5 months with the choo choo B16A. And just over 1 and a half year with C-REX itself. Shaken passed just 3 months ago too. Tbh I don't know what to do at this point. Junk the engine and swap it out? Or sell the car itself? Either way I'm gonna need a new daily.

"Knock knock," said the block.

Finances:
V$24,000 - V$200 (Hotel Room in Shibuya, 2 days, 1 night, V$100/day) - V$770 (Shaken) - V$150 (Tow Truck Rental) = V$22,880

Thanks for the love guys, appreciate it.

It's been a month since the B16A SiR-V blew on C-REX. Been having a hard time walking and biking to work as well. So I finally bought myself a daily, which also happens to be a beater. A daily beater.

1996 Honda Civic LX (EK8). Pretty weathered and dusty, but it's alright. Shaken is good for 8 months but I didn't get the plates until a week after I got the car, as you will see later on. Selling price I bought it for was 220,000 yen (V$2200).

Under the hood? A MONSTROUS D16Y7 mated to a 5 speed manual to produce an INSANE 106hp and 103lb-ft.

A week after driving and getting a feel for it, I decided to work on it a little. The 193,897 km ODO reading wasn't really noticeable as after I changed the oil, changed the gaskets and plugs and reconditioned the other components, the engine ran strong and smooth. Also worked on the suspension to replace the suspension bushings because I was gonna replace the same parts on C-REX as well. Total cost of parts on this EK8 was V$400.

A week after that, when the car was mechanically ship-shape, I gave it a full detail, outside and inside. This is what it looks like now.

I've decided to name her Kate. The lovely (E)(K)(8) :-X :))

Mandatory McDonald's initiation trip of course.

Now that the daily is out of the way, let me discuss the progress on C-REX.

Engine is out, and has been sold for a price of $900. To be picked up a few days from now. New parts have also arrived. Spoon DC2 BBK and 5 lug hub swap, 160,000 yen (V$1600), Energy Suspension Bushing Kit V$305, EK9 CTR Wheels 69,500 yen (V$695).

Pic during BBK and bushing kit installation:

After:

I think it actually looks pretty good haha. What do you guys think? Anyways, next step is the engine, to follow. Thanks for staying tuned!

Finances:
V$22,880 + V$565x4 + V$900 - V$2200 - V$400 - V$1600 - V$305 - V$695 = V$20,840

REVIVAL!!!

It's been a while guys! Been busy but here's some progress for you to enjoy.

Finally saved some money up to order a full built Spoon B18C from a DC2 Integra Type-R. This time, I chose not to boost it, I'm keeping it as a powerful, reliable, responsive VTEC motor. But of course, this has the Works done to it. Spoon Sports Complete DC2R B18C. Stock displacement of 1797cc, but upgraded internals. Block is forged. Balanced Pistons, Balanced Crankshaft, Balanced Connecting Rods. 81.0mm Bore, 87.2mm Stroke, 11.4:1 Compression. ARP Main Stud Kit, ARP VTEC Head Stud Kit, ARP Rod Bolt Kit, ARP Harmonic Damper Bolt Kit. Ported and Polished Head and Intake Manifold. J's Racing Headers. Spoon Sports Racing Balanced High .256 Intake Camshaft, Spoon Sports Racing Balanced High .245 Exhaust Camshaft. Spoon Sports Adjustable Intake and Exhaust Cam Gears. TODA Timing Belt. ARP Spark Plug Cover. NGK BKR6EIX Iridium Spark Plugs, 0.44mm Gap. Spoon Sports High Tension Plug Cord Power Cables. Spoon Sports Metal Head Gasket. Walbro 255LPH Fuel Pump. AEM Fuel Rail. 550cc High Impedance Top Feed Fuel Injectors. ARP Pressure Plate (Clutch Cover) Bolt Kit. ARP Flywheel Bolt Kit. Exedy Racing Stage 3 Hyper Single Plate Clutch Kit. Spoon Sports Chromoly Lightweight Flywheel. YAP. Money's gone lol, down the drain. Cost for the whole build was double the price of the car. 313,000 yen (V$3,130)! Let's hope it makes 313hp lol.

Now that the technicalities are done with. Cue progress pics!

Thank God for Al's engine hoist!

Nothing new for the rear end, still looks cool though haha

Had take the battery off first due to clearance issues. But after that it was all smooth sailing.

Aaaaand it's in!

Fitment is pretty snug in there I know. Oh yeah, also installed an ARP Wheel Stud Kit. V$25 shipped.

Wired everything up to the Hondata S300 Fully Programmable ECU. Topped up with 4L of the Spoon recommended Motul 300V Fully Synthetic Oil (18,000 yen (V$180) total, 4,500 yen (V$45) per liter). Turned the key. BRAP BRAP BRAP BRAP BRAP. It was really loud since I haven't gotten the flex pipe fabricated to fit the headers to the exhaust yet. But MAAAAN it sounded mad and raspy.

All tucked in and ready to get put back together.

Thanks for staying tuned! Assembly process coming soon!

Finances:
V$20,840 - V$3,130 - V$25 - V$180 + (V$655 x 3 weeks paycheck) = V$19,470
