# Jdm_Racer : I think instead of boosting this stang an V8 Swap will transform your ride

To remove the Cyclone V6 to put in a Coyote is not as easy as you may think you'll probably be like "yo vee the mustang is a V8 car just swap the coyote in"
It's a lot of work you have ECU remapping, new engine mounts and since this is the 2013 the most technically advanced Mustand to the 2016 there's more wires than NASA so that adds to the amount of work.

Plus I'm more a mechanic kind of guy not the guy who programmes shit and it'll be a fortune to get a V8 in, then again if I had enough money I'd buy 5.0 instead Of the 3.7.

I haven't got much problems with the V6 the most engine thing I've done is a Carbon Fiber intake cover and some aftermarket cams well that's what I reported last since I've bought tons of new shit and I'm still searching for the right Turbo Kit.

The Miata has just been covered since its been finished I wanted to drive it to work today but I would have been bombarded with questions
so later today I'll report back with some updates on the Pony and my soon to be Third car that I've been eyeing.

SOOOOOOooooo.......

Yes I haven't been posting dick about the Mustang only the beautiful Miata :drool2: She so niceeee....

But here's what I haven't posted :

Tune Day

Since the last update I bought new rims and the 302 Boss wing since then I've have gone deeper into the mods.
New 355mm Front Brembo Brake Kit and a 345mm rear Kit

A tune by Roush Performance, they even threw on the stage 3 body kit and a new exhaust manifold and tips, my neighbors probably want me dead now,
I put away my RTR rims in to storage and bought these powder coat gold PUR LG01 19" the gold and white perfect combination.
Oh not to mention the real carbon fiber side skirts and 302 leather seats and carbon fiber dash insert, I threw exactly V$5000 into this car and no turbo as yet,
but the Tune added just enough power to rival it's 5.0 brother

Here's some before and after pics to refresh who've never seen the mustang

BEFORE

AFTER

Nice isn't it here's the minor details that I may have left out

Added 11 minutes later:

Oh before I forget here's the car i think will be a perfect sleeper build, these are the only pics I was able to get since took it on test drive
Legacy RS has a new EJ25 JDM spec, non turbo motor from its last owner, this means who owned it last put some work into it.

What do you guys think ? Yay or Ney

Hey Guys..........

I've been seeing A.....Lot of GTRs for sale not the R35 but a R32 or R33
Since there legal here I think I should put the sleeper money into one,
I've seen alot of them but the ones that'll be in my budget are GTS-Ts
with RB25s and 26s.

What do you guys think ?
When I come back from my drift day I'll pass by the JDM dealer on my way home.

Skyline or Legacy ?

If you go with an R chassis, you'd have to pay out the ass for anything you want to put on it due to importation of parts, or you would have to manage to find parts for a Skyline in the States, which is next to none. If you do get it, however, you'd probably be one of six or so guys in California with an R chassis.

I own a JDM spec car here in california, (my z33) and its alot of trouble to make it street legal(which is why mine isn't) Only specific year models of the r33 are legal here, so you will face the same crap I did/ still do with the Z. It's gonna be too much of a hassle id say. Go with the legacy

Drift Day.....

Today was the day it's been a week since the car has been finished and it's about time she went sideways
I do have to admit I suck at drifting even with a even powerband it took me a while to get a grip at the wheel,
there was a few guys at the track and I got some pretty good shots no tandems unfortunately the car I didn't expect to see
was a 911 (993) Turbo I was hearing screaming and bovs all over only for a Blue 911 to fly past the pits.

I even got to get a drive along in it :D

I called it the blue beetle, you know cuz the VW Beetle is the 911s Father and it's blue and
the blue beetle from DC comics. Anything ?

Anyway it was an awesome day, Willow Springs I....WILL......BE.....BACK......and fail until I get better.

Remember I said I'm checking out a new project car and I got interested in Skylines ?

They are two in my Price range that are already here in the states :

An R33 GTS2-ST with a RB26ET engine swap

It's your typical JDM shipped to USA cliche Recaro Seats no Nardi wheel :crying:

From the brochure it makes 438HP 305TQ
which is decent
And coincidentally it has the same rims I bought for my Miata

HKS Hipermax Coilovers

A Kakimotor Exhaust

In a nutshell this car has been worked on

ALOT...................

But still stock to a point.

Price is reasonable in Skyline Price but reasonable, I guess ?

It goes for V$7500

The other Skyline is a R32 GTS-T with a SR20DET with real Nismo LM-GT4 18" Rims this car , a buddy of mine who works at the port
told me there is one, the guy who brought it in got it illegally and it was confiscated, he also told me it was going to be crushed but was saved reason I don't know why but I'm glad it wasn't.
So it has been sitting in the parking lot for years and since he's like some head guy he has the authority to like ,
sell cars at his whim and fancy ,so since he's a good friend of mine he told me I could get it for like V$5000

One thing that is letting me down is that it has the wrong FUCKING engine Like fuck, this is what I have on my table.
What do you guys think ?

I have the money and I'm willing to take the risk.

I'd grab the R32. If it was saved from the crusher then something about it is keeping it here. Also, it'd be child's play to pull a SR20 and sell it, there's always a 240sx that hasn't hit a curb yet, and the vapers always want to do it faster; hence the high sell rate of the SR20. Also, you can't deny the real Nismo wheels.

The thing is since people say that SR20's are reliable and much cheaper then an RB26 then go with the R32 although the rb26 can get more horsepower I would prefer an SR20 swapped R32

If there are Silvias with RBs, the SR has to go somewhere, right? You can keep it, it's cheaper, but you can have great power as well with some upgrades or even twin turbo. :)

Finances.......

I never mentioned my profession or what I do I'm the head engineer at a BP Refinery ,which basically I get paid a lot of money not to do shit just to be there since nothing actually goes wrong.
I'm young and all but I thought'd I get more hands on Y'know well I earned my Degree for something.

Enough about me I'm actually posting to talk about my Decision after a few of you guys said to go with the SR20 R32 I've chosen to go with you guys on this one
I haven't bought it yet and I've told Chris ( Port Guy )that'll I'll be taking it sometime this week.

The other reason is, I went to my insurance agency and they said since the R33 is a newer model (meaning some lame excuse) and has a RB26 they said insuring a car with that alone will cost a shit ton to get covered, the engine alone made the issue I don't mind paying I have the cash but from you guys and some advice I'm going with the R32 It's cheaper ,insurance is cheaper ,parts are easier to find and it's easier to get licensed...Yayy...

Also having a friend at the port at that rank means......I don't have to pay shipping fees....don't hate me Cali guys please ?....I pay him a small fee he brings my stuff in, that's not illegal...right ?

So I'll be paying and picking her up....getting the car tuned up cause it's been sitting at a lot for 4 years.
getting her cleaned...licensed and added to the fold...probably a dyno and parts run through cuz from the engine bay that's no stock turbo system.

Anyway that was my update for today.

What you guys think ?

The Car Has Been Bought !!

So at 5:30 AM this morning I made my way down to the port and paid the V$5000.00 price tag.
I also bought a new battery and a gallon of fuel to put life back in the relic so it'll start.

Surprisingly ,It started with no issue but I'm not driving it until it's been rebuilt , checked out and
been declared fully road worthy.

This SR20 Blue Top sounds completely different to my Miatas Red Top.

Now after the 2 (Two) Hour Drive to the garage we unloaded the car into the shop
and started stripping the front off.

So now that my new project has been christened now I need to source,
the many parts I need to make this car mine, I'm not selling the Nismo Rims given the rarity of them I'm sitting on a cash pile.

So I'm gonna make my budget for how much I will be spending but for now the car will be sitting in garage for now.

Here's the list of parts that'll be going on to the car or what will be done to it.

Added 28 minutes later:

WHAT THE CAR SHOULD LOOK LIKE IN A FEW WEEKS OR DAYS

I have a pretty unorthodox setup and the SR is apart of my plan I'm keeping it but not for this

The Build Day 1

Today was the engine strip and part research day, we got the head cover cleaned, then it was on to source the origin of the parts that came with the car.
The Turbo was a Garrett GTX2863R a big boy for this small motor, from the running gear side of things , there are Bilstein B14 PSS coilovers no sway bars and well stock brakes.
I got the Nismos cleaned and put them in storage I may use them for track days since the tires are still fresh and right now the car is on some steelies.

So for now I'm just doing some engine work. I'm not keeping the SR20 in the R32 if you're wondering...I do have a donor planned but it's a secret.

To get acquainted with what I'm going for, I got hooked up with a fellow R32 owner who has the OG Godzilla who was super nice and let me go one of the many desert back roads, and man this shit is sick 1000HP of pure JDM muscle ,I swear I was going to shit myself when we got air on this stretch of road.

Fuck this car was fun.

I even took my Mustang out and had some fun with speed runs, I need to get this beast boosted.

I may have had more fun driving someones finished car than working on my car,I'll get some more work done tonight I'm gonna take apart the entire engine, then remove the doors, seats.
I want to get this car painted early as possible.

I'm gonna be working on this car overtime to get it done as quick as possible.

Money is about to be spent by the shit load.

Being a car guy is a lot of work bro.
But when it's finished its gonna be worth it.

BIGGEST FAILURE.....EVER

I haven't posted in ages due to the fact I contracted an eye infection going to the off shore station and I had a few issues with the R32 build.

First off, I'll spoil my surprise here and now, The engine was supposed to be a 2JZGE VVTI out of a SC300 the build was going smoothly until when we got the chassis on a lift ,the lift malfunctioned on us and dropped the car...bending the cockpit upwards so the build was halted and I thought...

Fuck it....

I'll sell what I could get of whats left of it and move on, sadly the R32 was sold to a good friend of mine who has the resources to fix the car and it's going full racecar, for all the parts I sold I amassed this.

Profit

R32 Shell : V$3000
2JZ : V$1550
Suspension : V$900
Miatas SR20 : V$900

Total : V$6350

I got an offer for the Nismos for like V$1500 but I'm not gonna sell them.

As a replacement car and one that is much more common in LA, I've bought is a 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT from a used dealer downtown, it's on Connecticut plates so I need to get the car registered here and get an emmissons test, I got it for a steal at V$3000 due to it being being hit in the rear earlier on in its life , the car is in pretty good shape since the previous owner did repairs before hand.

How can I go from a R32 to a Eclipse ?

Well unlike the R32 this has 6 Cylinders because it's the GT model
and I always wanted a Eclipse the 1995 GSR is to expensive for me and those are rare to find and some DSMs aren't that reliable
so I settled on this the only downside is the FWD I may do a AWD conversion soon.

The car itself has no issues really, just some loose bearings and some minor dings in the bodywork other than that the car is perfect.

I'm going a stance route with this build after getting a lot of inspiration from Phantom's RSX.

It's going to be tasteful and not to showy, probably as this goes along those words arent gonna be in my vocabulary.

Don't worry the Miata and Mustang are still getting my love.

Check of Balance

Gained: V$6,350
Car Budget: V$20,000
Paycheck: V$30,000
Spent: V$3,000
Remainder on Car Budget: V$23,350

The New Boy

I spent the day getting acquainted with my new car and I have to say this is the slowest V6 I've ever driven 3.6 liters of slowness it needs some power, first things first I got the car registered under Cali plates.

May do a Vanity plate soon.

STANCE PART 1

The first mod was some lowering springs for that extra low they were like V$120 I'll do the proper thing and get a full lowering and camber kit. I had to get lower profile tires due to the fact the old tires were to fat and rubbed on the fender lining.

While I was getting this done, I was showing my Miata some much needed attention I got the Blue Top + Turbo installed with a new exhaust kit from Flowmaster to help the car breathe better and I also did some new cosmetics, the intercooler could not fit underneath the bumper so that's off until I figure something out. I bought some Black Sparco seats for like V$400 each, I also got some Legit 16" SSR MK.1s and new tires for V$1200which look fucking sick I mean look at it and I picked up a Vertex Drift Wheel thats color coded for V$200

Items:

Flow Master Exhaust Kit : V$800
Sparco Seats : V$800
SSR MK.1s : V$1200
Vertex Steering Wheel : V$200

Total: V$3000

Car Budget: V$20,230

I'm selling the Watanabes the Bride seat and the Nardi Steering wheel for : V$1600

The only thing that really scares me is that Turbo it's at 16psi and it scares me when I accelerate , the car is so light and with the top off it's worst. :O

I'll get use to it soon.

I do need to get back drifting soon.

Both builds are coming along right now my DSM is my main focus whatever I do with my Daily and drift car I'll mention from time to time.

Man I love that Miata nice choice on keeping the turboed SR one reason why people swapped SR's into R32's are cuz if you get an RB20 R32 parts are expensive or either scarce and SR's are better in fuel economy

Added 1 minute later:

And also more space for a bigger turbo and everything so that's another reason why but I would like to wrap your eclipse in itasha if you want in the future o

STANCE PART 2

Now !! I've been spending money like fucking crazy to get this car finished as quick as possible I also spent a SHIT LOAD! of money on my rims, Yo Phantom you're not the person with big boy wheels.

9:00-11:25PM

I got Gunmetal 18x10 Messer ME07-3 for more than the car is worth, I spent V$6800 on them, one rim was V$1700 these usually go on German cars like VWs and whatnot, so I wanted to be different and get them. Also in the first pic the tires which are Stretched Hankook Ventus S2s with Speedhunter painted on them Nick Whattup cost about V$800 and V$50 ea to get them stretched,I just got Eibach camber arms V$300 for the front and back ,the suspension is still kind of sketchy.

As you can see the tires are to thick and the wheel offset is to "out" for the fenders so I got the fender lining out and the fenders rolled which cost me V$100 for the rollers. I picked up some cheap riveted overfenders for V$80 and got them on to give the car a menacing presence.

1:00

Another cosmetic mod was the base model's front bumper V$200 I got from a local scrapyard yard. I switched it out because I didn't like the triangle type grill, painted the fog caps black V$5 and got some yellow tint for the lights V$5 I also added was a Fake carbon lip with matching splitters V$100 from AutoZone and some stickers V$5 I got printed on the front windshield I have more stickers to go on later, I did put the Speedhunter sticker I got from my Miata feature, I hope you like it Nick.

Exotic offered to wrap the car for me, but I have a wild wrap in mind planned.
I'm gonna make an appointment to get it wrapped tomorrow,
If I get through the car will be gone awhile but it's gonna be lit.

Items

4x Messer ME07-3: V$6800

Fender Roller : V$100
Stock Bumper : V$200
Yellow Tint : V$5
Black Spray Paint : V$5
Carbon Kit : V$100

Total Spent : V$8,595

# VFLUSH : Speedhunter painted on them Nick Whattup

I did put the Speedhunter sticker I got from my Miata feature, I hope you like it Nick.

That Eclipse is coming out stupid good, and I have a predisposed bias against the 4G! I wish I could feature multiple cars from the same owner, because whatever comes out when you're done is gonna be SH worthy for sure!

STANCE PART 3

Coming to the final stage or FINAL FORM of my Eclipse I did some basic mods on it, some eyelids V$20 I got at AUTOZONE the rest of my yellow tint and more stickers at the rear V$10.
I even added my front plate and put it on the left side of the bumper, I think it looks good.

NOW !!

I've organized to get the car wrapped instead of painted to add some uniqueness to it. I did the design myself and I'm carrying it off tomorrow for the wrap. It may have been done before on other cars, But not on an Eclipse Nick when I'm done come take a look at it, this is legit SH material

Just took my car out for some shots around the city

You know the saying if you dont look back at your car when you park it, you've bought the wrong car.
well I've bought the right one.

There's a drift event this weekend and with this turbo on the Miata I'm skeptical about going...Fuck it.
I'm gonna have to drift it sooner or later, oh and my vanity plate for my Miata finally came, people who watch SlapTrain's Vids will get this :D :D .
