Hello y'all, Edo(BigSmoke) here! :D

You might wonder why I'm writing an update here instead of my own thread, as you all might know me from there. Well, as you saw on my last update, Benny invited me for another month at the Side to Side garage, thus I'm running at the Land of Free once more. At the moment Benny and Ziga(Lagano) got quite exhausted and basically wasted from what happened some time ago, so I was tasked to take the wheel for this one :D Anyways, without any further ado, let's take a delve on what happened. All I can say is that was one of the most intense and fun nights I've ever experienced...........

As the sun goes down, Benny decided to take his beloved R33 for a spin on the highway to test all the Nismo goodies installed by me and Muza(Niatross) as he had explained in the latest update, particularly on the engine side. This skunkworks project took the R33 literally around the world, as well as uhhh.....draining my wallet for half a summer. Thankfully, Benny allowed me to sell anything that has been removed from it and in the end also donated some cash to rebalance my wallet. Back to the highway run, Benny had Ziga on the passenger seat, as well as me and Soju(well, Soju) at the back seat. The legroom wasn't much and due to my size, I had a difficulty on getting into the back seat :)) But because the R33 is a grand tourer, I did expect this.

Nevertheless, that night we roll into the highway that connects Ardmore, OK with Dallas, TX. Along the way, we stopped at a highway service center, where Benny grabbed some cans of lagers and various beers as well as some packs of cigs, Ziga grabbed some bottles of vodkas, Soju grabbed some cans of beers as well and I bought myself.....some cans of Arizona Iced Tea. Well that's what I wanted for the night, to be drank while listening to various vaporware tracks.

As we continued our gentle and flowing cruise, we continued our ride. Traffic was rather quiet so we had the chance to flex the power of the R33 at anytime Benny wanted to. But he didn't do it until some time later, where we heard a huge rumble of engines and suddenly bright lights came from our back..........

"What's that?" I asked in a rather worried tone.
"Oh looks like we've got ourselves another street race!" Ziga replied in full excitement. "Let me see what's running....."

A red car passes by in speed and full treble. "A Civic sedan, kinda easy", said Ziga.

A yellow car passes by in a high turbo pitch. "Is that an Evo?" I asked as I catched a bit of it's glimpse. "Yup, an Evo 8. Now that's a good challenger", Ziga confirmed my sights.

Another red car passes by, this time in a loud rumble. "A Mustang?" I asked again. "No, even better, we got ourselves a Shelby!" Ziga answered me in even more excitement.

"Shall we try to catch them boys?" Ben asked us, eager to jump into the ensuing race.
"It's all your call, bossman, but this should be fun" Soju agrees to join the fun.
"Right then, hit it!" Ziga commands Benny to catch the street racers.
"TALLY HO BOIS YAAAAAAH!!" I shouted in excitement as Benny fully floors the R33 into the dark night.

It took us some time to shed off the gap between us and the pack of street racers, but eventually we managed to catch them! And to our hollering excitement, we got and passed the Shelby first!

"We got the snake bois! WE GOT THE SNAKE ALIVE!" I shouted in excitement as we got past the Shelby.
"One down, two to go! Keep on running!" Ziga informed to Benny as we sped off to catch the Evo.

Some time later, Benny caught the Evo. But the Evo turned out to be able to dish a much longer stronghold against us compared to the Shelby. It took us much longer time to get past the Evo, and even then the Evo was still able to snuck to our backs. I volunteered to watch our backs, and after a lengthy battle Benny were able to shake the Evo from our tail.

The battle was so intense and fast it actually saved us some time for catching up with the Civic! :)) We passed him relatively easy and quick, like scoring a stealth kill in video games.

Normally, I don't approve street racing as not only we could get a better place to race on, it's obviously dangerous. But of course I understand the appeal behind the street racing scene, and that night's race has proven my assumption true. The adrenaline rush, the ability to share the joy to your friends, the informality of just about everything, the urge to challenge yourself in tight environtments.......they're something that rubs you off for a long time and became quite addictive as well.

As we came close to the vicinity of Dallas, we decided to slow down and prepare ourself for a returning point to Ardmore so as not to catch too much attention, mainly from the cops......but then the Evo and Shelby flashed their lights and came to our sides. As they got our sides locked in, the Shelby's driver rolled down the window and shouted to us:"Let's stop and talk for a while, I'd like to know your ride!". On the other side of the R33, the Evo's passenger also rolled down the window, raising a thumbs up and shouted "Cool ride!". After ensuring myself and Soju that everything will be okay, Ziga told Benny to pull over with them on a road shoulder.

Fortunately, they were indeed inviting us for some nice chatter, so Ziga had us out from the car and drinks were handed as we talk about our cars and of course the race we undertake earlier. The Evo was fully loaded with various engine mods and also that bodykit, which, due to all excitement form the earlier race, I'm not sure I can ID correctly. And of course, after Benny introduces us as fellow Evo owners(and classic Evos at that!), the talk was flowing like a waterfall. The Evo 8 owner also appreciated that I raced my Evo 3 as a time attack and daily! :D Turns out he race in autocross events at times with said Evo 8.

The Shelby was indeed a legit Shelby! Not much has been done to it, only some bolt-on engine mods and seemingly minor visual mods. Nevertheless, being a Shelby, it's still outrageously quick as hell. This thing still looks savage though, as all Shelby should be! Hearing it roaring in the middle of dark night was quite a spiritual experience.

Some time later, we heard a loud chunter of a boxer engine. "Ah, here comes my friend!" Said the Evo driver. Moments later, a carbon-clad Subie GRB pulls into the shoulder as well. And boy we were in for a surprise! After the Shelby driver introduced us to the Subie driver and ensured him that we are good guys, as well as telling to him what happened earlier.

The Subie driver, as expected, was a rallycross and time attack fan, and hilariously true to the stereotypes, carries a vape on his hands :)) He's a great guy though, quite kind to let us have a walkthrough around his car. Turns out that's not just a carbon wrap donned by the Subie, but indeed a full carbon body setup! He has also threw alot of money for just about everything else, including loads of upgrae pack from Crawford Performance, the same company that prepare Ken Block's Subie GRB for Gymkhana Two appearance, as well as Rally America duties a decade ago before he made a switch to Ford. All in all, this is an all-rounder package that mustered a whopping 960 BHP, basically the most powerful between the bunch. Imagine if we faced this Subie earlier........

We talked through the night and had a great and lit banter until eventually Benny ran out of cigs and dawn came. After exchanging our social media contacts, as well as the Art of Wheels and Opposite Style shop contact, all of us parted ways and we made our way back to Ardmore. I'm not sure if Ziga and Benny would do this again, but eh, I guess I have to prepare myself for moments like this for some time :))

Anyways that closes my guest update on this thread, and thus monetary status updates will still be held by either Ziga or Benny when normal service resumes. See you all some time later soon......BigSmoke signing off ;)
