So as i told you yesterday we continued with #ProjectMX5 after we got some sleep and went to Ben's place. Before our trip to Japan i ordered some stuff for the MX5's V6. The most important things were a SPEC Stage 2 clutch and a manual transmission, cause this Miata was a manual before. *LINK* So i got a manual transmission from a Mustang GT, i didn't find any from a V6 cause most of those are automatics, but i thought "it should fit".
 It did but the original MX5 transmission was a little longer so we had to move the engine backwards a bit. I also thought about some upgrades, the first one is a head swap, to be precise i got a set of DOHC heads from a 3.7 V6 from a newer Mustang, with cams, valves and everything. *LINK* I think the bore is pretty similar to the 4.0 so they could fit with no problems, or maybe the heads will have to be rebored, we'll see. *LINK* I ordered some "shorty" headers as well, they are made for the new heads and the engine will fit in easier. The swap is almost done, we checked if everything is in the right place and we're making some mounts at the moment.   |
